Halfway through The Name of the Rose, and it’s clear this is not a novel you “consume” — it’s one you inhabit.
Eco turns a medieval monastery into a closed intellectual universe where books are dangerous, knowledge is power, and interpretation can kill.
Not an easy read. But absolutely a compelling one.
