"Whether out of personal pain or universal disdain, the man was that way with everyone; nonetheless, it was hard for Anthony, in his present state, not to feel judged."

Laura is 58% done with Driven to Distraction: Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder
Very outdated- male presentation focused, with some rather triggering descriptions of "normal" conflict in families due to adhd. These conflicts are physically and mentally abusive, and an ADHD child is seen as a burden that affects the whole family. Gives the same vibe as the Autism Speaks position that an autism is a devastating diagnosis.

Wow, the closer I get to the end of this book, the stupider and more ridiculous it gets. Ugh.

I was actually really loving this, until the dating rules. "Don't be too funny, men like funny but don't want to marry a comedian. The guy is supposed to be the funny one." Ugh *facepalm*

So I enjoyed the first book, I was never asked to suspend belief beyond a minor flaw or two. The character went to the police at a reasonable point in the narrative, she made generally typical teenage choices, etc. But in this one, she's stealing from a crime lab, playing around on secure federal databases, and being asked for sexual favors by an adult in exchange for help w/o that being questioned at all.

So absolutely none if this had to happen. He's a minor. The whole hookup scenario is statutory rape, making him a victim. And the whole murderous scenario involving mistaken identity would be easily worked out in a hundred different ways, not even considering the fact that HE IS A MINOR. I'm gonna keep reading, but the whole making-stupid-decisions-to-create-a-plot thing is really distracting.

Feeling in a weird, super slumpy mood these days. Not really excited about anything, but this kept popping into my head. I already know the twist thanks to some lazy booktube viewing on my part, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

"This is a crucial point. You can miss a day or two and you will not be set back to zero. An omission is not a license to cheat or keep failing. Your habit-in-formation is not so fragile that it requires perfection."

"Most reassuring for those of us trying to form a new habit is that participants could miss a day or two without derailing what they had started. The day they began again, automaticity was almost as high as when they lapsed. Occasional gaps did not erase the emerging habit."
