Okay don’t hate me but I did in fact skip ahead to a random page in the vain hope that some of my questions would be answered.
I just so happened to pick the page where Vin kills Zane (!!!) & rushes back to Elend, so YAY one less thing to wonder about! Okay I’ll skip back now, whew! What a twist!!! (And what does the Voice MEAN Zane was never insane?? I mean I figured it’s a real voice but whose??)

I thought at least Zane’s father acknowledged him before the collapse?? That’s crazy he’s so loyal just on the basis of blood. I’m also curious what his snapping event was. If it has something to do with the Voice… hmmmm

No that’s crazy though!!! Zane must really really like her to resist the urge to kill her right there. To be honorable with warning her about the koloss, and the refugees. I’m wondering if the Voice has ever told him to kill her?? In this interaction he only mentions Elend
Also honestly, he has my respect for not hating Elend (so he says), even if he does envy him.

starting to think OreSuer is about to crack this case wide open re: koloss and the stalemate. Also he kinda hit with the whole “humans will destroy themselves” bit

also I am still not over that Zane and Elend are BROTHERSSS because of course they are. why only take the drama of a mistborn assassin to rival Vin’s prowess, when you can add the drama of a secret brother hating Elend for having the pampered life he never could, all while angstily believing (in self preservation) that the pain was worth it for the power he now possesses. Mortal instruments vibes? etc?

I LOVE how Vin is becoming friends with OreSuer, as in, actively being friendly and trying to gain his trust and reach out in the same way Kel reached out to her.
ALSO it’s super weird everyone calls Elend “El” when they called Kelsier “Kel”. Like no wonder this man feels like he’s replacing an irreplaceable icon of their time
Vin is also sooo Elsa, heading voices from the north, ok predestined queen

also general thoughts
- truly how is it possible we’re only up to two (2) main female characters this is getting ridiculous
- third female character (daughter of whoever) is definitely a spy. unless of course. she really is that ditzy. In which case. another strike against the feminist agenda
- Elend is so… not Nikolai Lantsov. He reminds me of some other good hearted weak willed ruler I can’t think of rn

ok so yeah it’s kinda obvious the mists are evil but here I am, thinking “hmmmm why does this sound familiar?? A previously docile if foreboding cloud of mist turning hostile after the deposition of an evil, immortal ruler??”

friends… it’s shadow and bone (Nikolai’s duology). Cannot wait for Vin to be crowned queen against her will and also for dragons to be suddenly real

Ok because this book is just all banter. All banter. And I’m not mad about it. I knew exactly how it would end from page 5 (assuming I’m right) and yet it’s still got me smiling and rolling my eyes and surprising me with the details. Just waiting for that final silly little punchline!! Because romance books always have a punchline!!
