hm … okay. so it’s like i saw this coming because it’s just that kind of yk? but doesn’t mean i don’t wanna know what happens next 😂 clever that mcfadden decided to make a part 2 within the book because otherwise id be more disappointed. but now im entertained. the book is entertaining tho bc i def started it last night and im at 60%, so am i just being a hater???

ain’t nothing special about this book in the slightest. rn it’s giving boilerplate housemaid story where the maid is beautiful the wife is a wacko and the husband is handsome. i was really hoping it would give something other than that… i guess we will see

bruh like what is the point of this book? time is just jumping around and either we are in a blast from the past and rebecca is 22 or like she’s reminiscing about her dead son or phillip is explaining some physics and fanboying over alicia merrill. then we hear about the security guard at the front desk for a whole chapter like what is the point??? and im not even half way done. there’s nothing going on bruh

how far off are we from this kind of world, really? many people say “we must stand up and fight!” - friends, family, social media - but we have become so
used to isolation, the remote. the gap between the rich and poor, the literate and illiterate, widens day by day. does it take a new philosophy, like Earthseed, to revolutionize? what does it take? because this is not a life i want to live. and it’s not far.

I got from page 45 to 100 really fast… I was really just trying to get to 50. I see some of myself in Lauren, maybe a lot of myself. This is the kind of book where the author seems to inject her own musings, in a way I like. Quite philosophical - biblical in its anti-bible way. I see a lot of myself in Lauren.

still slow … it’s giving … dating sites, time travel; and information age. flashbacks, old flings, and self driving cars. a us president. i’d also be very surprised if the author isn’t a physicist (at least at heart). i’m rlly not sure where this is going.

Not normally a fan of books I have to settle into, but I can tell that the slow initial pace of this book is going to pay off. The president is confusing me, and it’s giving 1984 a bit (it’s funny how I keep mentioning 1984, but I AM still reading that right now) because the scene with a Rebecca and Kate at the dinner had me like?? The author has me really wondering what’s going on with Alicia and Phillip …

I don’t know … because I’m reading 1984 and it starts off slow, I was making more headway with this book, but honestly this book is not that good 😂 Let me speed read, kindle says I have 1h 47 mins left…

it’s kinda giving the author hates women 😂 how did i not notice this before? i just haven’t seen one woman talked about in a nice way… actually he talks a lot about how the protagonist hates women fr .. but maybe it’s a part of the plot. rubbing me the wrong way lolz. 1950s core?

shes heating up! perhaps i preferred kids of appetite over this book in the past .. just couldn’t remember. i’m on a - rereading my kidhood faves spree — but anyway. caleb being compared to mim was interesting. i’m just so glad mim got off that damn bus 😅 i was so tired of the bus arc

okay so i’m trying not to let the reviews of this book make me think the author is just showing off his own wit (which is why i don’t like to read reviews in the middle of a book) but i get the point. this book does make me chuckle though. walt !! i want a want in my life .. walt reminds us all to live life 🥰

i can’t remember what year this book was written but i’m like … the author drones on and on about one concept or one person or one thing generally for forever and my attention span since i read this in high school has dropped. but it did get a single laugh from me yesterday .. & the dystopian world is alarmingly similar to what we got going on …

honestly loved this book in high school but i’ve highkey forgotten the plot so here we go again 💋

I made the mistake of reading some reviews on the book mid-book, and it’s kinda soured my taste for it because I see what the negative reviews are getting at. It reads like a deadpan narrator, and there doesn’t seem to be much plot thickening. I feel like I’m kinda just passing time with the characters for the sake of knowing what’s going on in their lives. But I don’t hate it.. maybe I kinda like it?

It’s been lowkey confusing to be honest, but now that I’ve gotten to the start of the action, maybe I see how it’ll keep me hooked. Bryce is obviously going to have to go through a major character development to match the major life event, and I’m here for it.
