i appreciate the domesticity of this novel so far, it’s very sweet

(talking about deportations) “what i’m saying is nobody feels sorry for anybody anymore, nobody even pretends they do. not even the president.
it’s like it’s become unpatriotic.” AMEN!!! THIS BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1989 AND THIS IS STILL SO RELEVANT.

this book is devastating 😭 good lord
