Amazing, but I think it's going to trail a little bit behind East of Eden for me. I haven't quite clicked with the characters yet and I'm not a huge fan of dialect (even if it is well done and the obvious choice). The intercalary chapters are just amazing though. I would read a whole book of Steinbeck just writing about that turtle walking or dust building up in abandoned houses.
