The genius of the “casualties” chapter. Never have I read a battle scene sequenced like that before. The constant shifting of perspective between characters that we knew were going “back to the mud” was riveting.

holy moly the end of the deterrence era. I’m enjoying this book exponentially more than the last one and the ideas that are proposed in here constantly make me think. My goodness now that I understand how to read these books, they are so fantastic

Alright another update: it’s been too long since I’ve put one out, but loving the relationship forming b/w Yumi and Painter. I just cherish their relationship. Yumi caring about painter even after he thought she would leave him after he lied.

Finished part 1! Loving the dichotomy between Yumi’s hot sunny planet and Painter’s dark grim nightmarish world. The imagery of the floating plants and the freakish nightmares are awesome. And of course all of Hoids narration is the cherry on top.

Loving the backstory of Khriss so far. And the tidally locked planet is super sick with both the light side and the dark side. Also after reading RoW it’s cool finding out what’s up with all this black sand.
Also seeing GUNS so early in the cosmere wut

Ok Jasnah chapter. Honestly one of my favorite characters in this whole series. She is THE bad bitch. I want a whole book with her POV. And to all the screenwriters in today’s shows: I will HAPPILY watch a female lead if she is this well written. No need to butcher poor Rand Al’Thor and Aang to make women strong in a story… also I think soul casting is just one of the strongest surges and Elsecallers as a whole
