Wow just finished A Temporary Matter. Incredible story that moved me. I was so immersed in this story.

Humans are so complex: deeply flawed, hurting, capable of doing some pretty awful things to others. And yet I am so moved by their redemption, by the unseen and unexpected good in them that often requires a little bit of listening and grace to draw out.

Dominico sucks

This main character is a terrible person. Also fuming bc of racist homophobic characters and corrupt justice system

This narrator is hilarious. I appreciate all the intrusive thoughts. Very engaging book so far.

Ughhh it’s so good so far. I’m learning so much about history. But also feeling very moved by the professor’s writings about the inevitability that we leave some sort of mark on this earth - that our lives are in some small way meaningful. And I feel like this provides realistic depictions of fear, anger, and grief experienced by exiles.

It’s such a beautiful and also necessary thing to live in multiethnic communities. How heartbreaking it is that that is a rare experience because of racism, division and hatred sown by those seeking to get rich off of fear. This book has my blood boiling at the decline of healthcare systems in states refusing to adopt Medicaid expansion, education becoming increasingly unaffordable and those in power who don’t give a shit about anyone, including constituents in their own racial in-group. This book so far is very educational, eye opening and deeply depressing. Hoping for some practical action steps

Wow cool to learn that simply end of life discussions and palliative care and hospice improves not only quality of life but also life expectancy (given a dying persons prognosis) as I’m on a project looking at readiness for these types of discussions. Cool stuff!
