I’m really enjoying this one. Well-written and full of folklore and scholarship.

I’ve read the first part of this book in The New Yorker - wonderful writing!

Lyrical, sensual, full of love, violence, and magic, set in Luna Park, Coney Island, in its heyday.

I’m enjoying the book but I must say that Amazon Crossing really didn’t proofread it very well. Things like occasional wrong names of major characters, words printed in bold and/or italic typefaces for no reason…😡

They should tell readers that there’s a section at the end of the book describing creatures and giving name pronunciations!

I meant to day “listening to…”

It’s been so long since I started ear-reading this book that I’ve had to start eye-reading if from the beginning.

Due to my mostly forgetting books as soon as I finish them, this one is vaguely familiar, like a movie I might have watched some time ago.

Rereading this for book group - glad it’s so good!
