ok so hortense being the murderer was sorta surprising to me but also not rlly lowkey

but all the stuff about her living with the buckets and trying to frame lady d came outta nowhere

and george being mrs. rouncewell’s kid?? i mean i ate it up but does dickens know not everyone has to be related?

is it just me or is the narration getting chaotic?

i feel like esther’s narrative is blending with the other chapters, and we’re starting to hear events out of order and hop back and forth — i’m not mad about it though

i am curious to see how the murder case ends up… if it’s a tale of two cities situation i’m gonna plotz fr

dang dickens really saved all of the plot for the second half huh

honestly did NOT see jo’s death coming and it ruined my weekend

did see tulkinghorn’s death coming… and it seems implied that lady d did it, but if he was at his house in london idk how she could hav gotten there and back in time? so im guessing someone else

also rip mr. george hope he’s ok

alright NOW this is feeling like a dickens novel.

i am devastated for the debt collector’s kids and i lowkey hope mr. jarndyce sets them up for life.

also loving that jo is back, i didn’t rlly think we’d see him again but i want the best for him truly.

lady dedlock is giving major lady audley vibes… def killed someone imo

richard baby get a hold of your finances!! feels like foreshadowing. also justice for esther those nicknames are FOUL.

my predictions:
guppy marries rich!
the guy with the bird was engaged to esther’s mean aunt and/or gets with lady dedlock (ik she’s married but ppl die)
esther has money or some inheritance she doesn’t know about
the bird dies at some point bc the novel is just so long

second serial update:

holy cow this book is gonna be long. my mild beef with vast books like this is that i don’t know who to invest my energy in and who not to. cause some ppl drop off the face of the earth and others become secret protagonists.

called richard and ada, but their romance is disappointing so far. justice for jarndyce. double justice for peepy.

reading serially as instructed:

first part done. and we’ve covered years?? i’m a little scared of how many people dickens is gonna squeeze into this book.

my predictions:
richard ends up with either esther or ada
that lady from ch 2 whose name i forget is esther’s mom
and/or mr. jarndyce is related to esther somehow
