I love the way this is written. It carries an air of, "See, honky, I can do it too. There's nothing special about you and your prosiac meanderings."

I wish every book was written like this. Like all of my favorite author styles collabed on a single novel. King, Kepnes, Auster, Murakami, Irving, Dunn, all of them.

Should have this wrapped up the today. YouTube review should be up by the fourth week of November. Damn...just realized how far ahead I am with videos lol.

I really should read more of Stewart's stuff. This is exceptionally well written.

One of the best audiobooks I've read so far

Making this my between-dash ebook read. I've found carrying a book with me in the car is cumbersome, as is wearing and removing reading glasses I can't wear while driving. So ebooks it is. Luckily, I have a backlog of 6,000 I've collected since 2011, so I shall not want for content. Anyway, I'm enjoying this so far. Didn't realize it was a bunch of interconnected short stories. I love that shit.

"Graveyard Shift"

I always forget about the bats. Anyway, peep this info:

Gates falls is located near Castle Rock and Jerusalem's Lot in Castle County, Maine. Its mention in THE DARK HALF, BAG OF BONES, and the story "It grows on you". Recently, it's mentioned in novellas such as RAT (Graveyard Shift has monstrous rats lol) and MR. HARRIGAN'S PHONE. In the latter novella the protagonist attends Gates Falls High.

This is fantastic. Loving the layers of metaphor, and the hilarious, and even disturbing, scenes of violence and degeneracy. Trueblood's story was somehow disgusting, deplorable, and the peak of comedy. In the chapter after that, I loved how everyone at the Golden Day called Mr. Norton "white-folks" 🤣

Everyone disappeared from Jerusalem's Lot in 1789. The letters in JS were written in 1850, 61 years apart. Every 61 years... 1789, 1850, 1911, 1972... 'SALEM'S LOT was published in 1975. According to the introduction of a 'SALEM'S LOT on I own, King reread DRACULA in 1971 and got the idea for SL, which he assumingly started in 1972...

The metaphor is thick with this one. Gonna be a long, brutal read, but so far every word is important.

Metaphor sure and sound. A permeating sense of places dark and deep, betrothed to the hidden shame of one's own shame. Desperate. Loving. Hateful and misplaced. This book is doing things to me. The Palace at 4am awaits my stuttering progress, my uncertain steps.

A dark room lot only by streetlight. A dog in a leather jacket and sun glasses. Absurdity and sex. Filth and memory.

I read 75 pages and it felt like 25. I love the sad tonality of it. The atmosphere is as thick as the air of a sauna. Brooding, dark, spiritual but not religious, elegant and mercurial. Everything I look for in a novel. And the digital artwork only adds more depth, a wider field of vision. No wonder it won the NBA year before last.

What is new horror's obsession with not making death count??? This is the third modern horror book I've read, in a row, that brings a dead character back from, you guessed it, the dead! Fuckety fuck fucking fuckery! This was going so well 🥺😭😭😭 That brings my glowing five stars down to a dull three.

Whooey, I thought Stark was gonna kill Holmes for sure.
