Had to take a few days off this and deal with health issues but I'm back!

I'm enjoying this but it reminds me A LOT of one of his earlier books, MYSTERY WALK

Chapter 13 wasn't very good. I liked the bit of action at the end but the 26 pages before that nearly put me to sleep.

A 40 page chapter followed by a 50 page chapter has left me exhausted, even after splitting them up over four full days! Oof, I need a nap to let my brain reboot.

Last chapter was 40 pages. This one is 50. I can't manage more than 25 pages at a time with Bellow, so I'll have to finish this one tomorrow. I will say, the more I read him, the easier he is to understand.

WTF you mean chapter 11 is 40 pages??? It takes me an hour to read ten pages of this. A four hour chapter??? I've read shorter Stephen King novels 😭

Second book in a row that has a character stealing books which is hella weird considering I've never read a book about someone stealing books before reading these two books...

I lov d Chapter 9. Each chapter gets better and easier to read. I wasn't familiar with this style before. Bellow is definitely in a unique class of his own. Might sound silly, but I feel smart any time I solve one of these prosaic puzzles. How anyone can write 500+ page novels like this is beyond me lol.

Chapter 7 is my favorite yet. A leather goods store heist AND a trip with Einhorn to a brothel? PEAK LITERATURE! PEAK!

Part Two. Still not entirely sure why I'm reading this. I don't hate it, but it's not my speed whatsoever. I can see why it has such high ratings, I simply don't believe these people exist, is maybe the problem? Idfk...🫤

That was the easiest chapter this far. Still a difficult read, but easier than the last two. I think I'm finally getting Bellow's cadence down. I'll be dancing soon enough!

I am barely keeping up lol. The narrative style here is easily one of the hardest I've had to follow, but I'm up for the challenge!

This book feels like it's been edited into the ground. i wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out I somehow came across a Readers Digest condensed version of it... Wait!

That's exactly what this feels like. It feels ABRIDGED! It's take me three days (and the writing of this update) to figure that out. Shameful.

What the fuck? Okay then. Um, Glendale was adequately creepy, especially the back to back twists in that last chapter. No idea where this is going but my rating just jumped from a 3 to a 4. Chance of 5 stars is about 20%.

Takes some cajones to wait until 100 pages in to make your book interesting but I'm with you now.
