literally no idea why i started this, the pit and the pendulum is one of the most terrifying stories ive ever heard, and i knew that going in

only just started but wow this writing is beautiful

sort of glad mrs. montague is there, i can take a break from being scared to be supremely Annoyed instead

“i know what she meant [about it wanting to eat us], because i thought it was exactly the right word. the sense was that it wanted to consume us, take us into itself, make us a part of the house.” oughhhghghhhhh

for all the differences between the show, this is still so unsettling in its own right, and i think the line above really encapsulates the vibe of the show anyway
