This is officially a DNF. Not only is it terrible but it keeps getting deleted. I’m not excited to read it and I love reading so I’m going to move on to something I do want to read.

I officially declare this writing “lazy”. The FMC just said she hasn’t had a drop of alcohol in the past week but they had wine with dinner the night before.

I’m half convinced this was written by AI. While some of the words technically fit they seem like a natural choice.

What kind of FBI agent can’t stop herself from talking to herself out loud? Also this is first assignment and she’s ready to throw away her career for a guy who is straight up mean to her? This book is teetering very close to DNF territory.

There are 816 pages, on page 122 she’s in love but they have no emotional chemistry. Just because you get jealous when the guy you’re into flirts with someone else does not mean love. I worry about authors who write like that. I worry they don’t have healthy relationships either.

The writing on the page is fine but I feel like there is so much missing. Not sure if it was intentional or if the author was focused on certain parts and everything that should have come between to round out a coherent story was left by the wayside.

This girl ain’t right. She’s an fbi agent with no self control when it comes to a handsome man who she is currently investigating and as toxic and shut off as he is she thinks she can get him to open up just because he wants to f her and she wants to f him.

Finally a FMC says something smart! “Just because I have a crush on him doesn’t mean I can put everything I know about him aside and assume he’s not trouble.” This is my first monster romance but I have read some more conventional romances that were way cringier.

They had to go to the ranch on Saturday so they could be there for the big Sunday breakfast but there was no big Sunday breakfast. It sounds like everyone ate on their own schedule.

I hate books with fake relationships where the guy is an asshole then she forgives him the second he tries to turn things swxy. That’s just manipulation. I worry about authors who write these stories and the guy never does anything truly redeeming and they live happily ever after.

Still can’t keep POV or characters in the room straight.

“Jack will be so to see you”. I guess it’s not necessary to have all the words. I’m guessing this is an editing mistake. Do Kindle Unlimited books even have editors?

I feel like Griffin needs to admit why he broke up with Sierra and that he always had feelings for her even during his marriage and why he married his wife. Still being very vague and cagey.

They seem to have given up on identifying whose point of view the chapter is being told from.

The author can’t keep the name of the female main character straight. In one page it goes from being Sierra Harper to Sierra Bennet.

Straight up sexual assault. This book needs trigger warnings. “Suddenly his hand shot out, grabbing my neck, holding me in place so he could force his other hand between my legs”. That doesn’t sound like a set up from a rom-com that sounds like something you say to a trauma counselor.

I am definitely getting close to my DNF threshold. “Yeah, I could definitely lower myself to f*** Evie Murphy”. What the actual hell is that?

“My heart was thump-tha-thump in my chest”. I get the meaning but I really feel like this line slipped past the author and editor.

I just feel like this author is not for the new too era. Even in books where degradation is a kink that they explore there are better ways to do it. Nobody in the story is upset about the right thing. It almost seems like the parents like the guy more when he talks about their daughter performing o*** s** than when he is “letting” his niceness come out.

This is so similar to the first book just with less mystery.

Page 149 and they even repeat the invoking of Susan B. Anthony as the female relatives drool over the MMC who is so rude that a self respecting woman would never fall for that kind of bad boy schtick. It’s just derogatory.

The only reason I’m going to finish this book is because it’s close to the end of the year and I don’t like leaving things unfinished. Will not finish the series

On page 96. So far this is too similar to the last book.
