Stephen Graham Jones’s voice is phenomenal. He balances humor with movement so well and I love his pacing. He writes heavy things in a light way that still makes you think. He is so good and the ending of this book is so beautiful. I was there with her at the end; watching her and being her.

This book is really good, I really like Jones’s writing. I wonder why there’s a deer on the cover and not an elk, but maybe that’s another clue. I kind of wish I had read this more consistently, rather than at work where I would keep getting pulled out of the atmosphere.

Good lord that was a lot. I’m not sure how to feel about this book, it feels so BookTok like which is meh. I was confused about so many of the words and the schemes by everyone was good but the miscommunication trope is my least favorite. I also just don’t like the fast enemies to lovers trope. I like enemies to friends to lovers or something like that. It definitely gave BookTok fantasy rec

Sometimes I struggle seeing two characters who had such one sided beef all of the sudden fall in love but I can definitely see the dependency, which is 😏

Fantastic ending.

Listening to Phoebe Bridgers new album before reading this part of the book was such a good move. I’m getting some great artistry. I might have to reread this book when I can really focus because I can’t really get the full immersion when I’m reading at work.

Okayyy I’m sensing the connection between Aya and Will but there’s still so many plot lines and people to remember that I genuinely can’t keep up.

I kind of wish I wasn’t reading this on my lunch break at work because I can feel that it has many layers, but I feel like I’m not appreciating it enough because I keep getting distracted. I think it would definitely be a book that I just tore through if I was reading it at home, so I guess it’s good that I’m taking my time.

It’s so strange that when I’m reading this book, it’s good and I want to just keep reading and reading, but then when I put it down and take a break, I find it really hard to pick it back up.

Also don’t understand why Aya hates Will soooo much but I can respect the enemies to lovers. Voting for Aidon!!! Also I normally can vaguely pick up on the fantasy lingo in a book, but for some reason none of this is sticking, so I really appreciate the dictionary and class order in the front and back of the book.

Tbh the animosity between Aya and Will is almost too ruthless that I’m struggling seeing them getting past it, even though it’s obvious they will.

I think this book poses some very good questions about AI. It puts you in the lives of these people and really makes you wonder where the line should be drawn for blaming AI. At what point are we just blaming each other? I wish we could’ve seen more perspectives about the crash, maybe someone who believed Charlie was truly at fault and could argue against the AI. I loved the excerpt parts from Lorelei’s work.

So interesting, I think the slow pacing of the book is offset by how short the chapters are.

Okay, that was good!! I definitely think it would be more impactful if I had had kids before. I probably should’ve listened to the note at the beginning and waited for the right time, but I can tell this is really going to help women speak up for themselves.

I’m curious on what scientists thought process was for ECT. What did they think would happen and how did they come to that conclusion? Did they have a specific voltage they used for different patients? Did they wait for a specific brain wave?
