Stephen Graham Jones’s voice is phenomenal. He balances humor with movement so well and I love his pacing. He writes heavy things in a light way that still makes you think. He is so good and the ending of this book is so beautiful. I was there with her at the end; watching her and being her.

“Where the old ones go” is such a good final chapter title

“Denorah hates that she’s believed that, once upon a time. And she wants to cry for not getting to believe it anymore.”

This book is really good, I really like Jones’s writing. I wonder why there’s a deer on the cover and not an elk, but maybe that’s another clue. I kind of wish I had read this more consistently, rather than at work where I would keep getting pulled out of the atmosphere.

I definitely need to read more horro/scary books because these is a little slow for what happened and it’s not what I’m used to. But it’s really good!
