I quite literally just started this, but I'm already liking it a lot more than I thought I would. I appreciate the short chapters and love Shirley Jackson's writing style, the words flow easily, therefore the book reads smoothly and comfortably. The vocabulary is efficient without being too abstract. I love the short but descriptive character introductions

I'm not a fan of the winnet/sorcerer anagram tbh, although it fits the narrative, I feel like it appears very randomly and goes on for too long, disrupting the prose.

The writing can be very confusing, especially in dialogue, but so far, I'm invested in how everything is unfolding and finding too much to relate to

coming back to this book after a LOOOOONG reading slump. loving it so far + i love that we get to understand anne's perception of the people around her and herself, and infer why she is the way she is.
