I feel like I'm creeping through this book at a very slow pace, but I'm enjoying it so much. The world building is fantastic ✨

I'll admit that the cover + the title made me expect next to nothing from this book, but it actually seems to be pretty solid. The book so far offers summaries of myth/folktales, in addition to some suggestions. Hardly any unverified personal gnosis, or if there is any, it is clearly marked as such.

Oh no the bird is a racist

In the chapter on the concept of an Otherworld, the author states that there are many different otherworldly realms in Celtic myth. But in addition to that, there is an under/middle/upper world division. This last statement is presented without references to sources. I've seen this claim thrown around a lot, but sometimes I wonder if it's not just an attempt to reconcile core shamanism with what we know of the Celts.
