I should be cleaning my house but I’m finishing this up instead muahahah try and stop me

Quirky! Some obscure naval language that made my girls glaze over but were sticking with it.

If you have never read this book, I’m sorry.

Blazing right through the series. Overall we’re under the impression things are a little too perfect for Betsy, but we are turning a blind eye. ;) Also, for a book called Betsy Goes Back to School, she hasn’t even been at school as of yet.

Breezing through the Betsy series! It’s just so sweet.

Read aloud with my kindergartener. A charming story!

Having recently decided to partially vaccinate my girls, this has been a really helpful starting point.

This book is dizzyingly thorough

I am really enjoying this. Susan Wise Bauer has my utmost respect, truly!

“I have perfectionist leanings; I am the mother of perfectionist. And I’ve realized that it is immensely important to help our gifted, good kids fall on their faces. The only way to reassure kids that the world won’t end if they fail is for them to fail, and see that the world goes on.“ (p 76)

Mother Academia course: book 2

This book is just absolutely delightful.

Mother Academia course: book 1. Narrating as I go.

this book is stressful. Stress. Full. Full of stress.

A detour from my regularly scheduled program of secular child psychology and parenting books. (Which has been eye-opening, in fact, but just haven’t had the time to write proper reviews.)

A vaguely wealthy, self-absorbed, beautiful girl makes a right mess of things with other actually wealthy, self-absorbed, less beautiful individuals. That’s what’s going on.

“[Lily] was still languid from her brief sleep, and the exhilaration of the evening, and the sight of Selden’s writing brought back the culminating moment of her triumph: the moment when she had read in his eyes that no philosophy was proof against her power.”
