This book I can tell is way too short. Everything seems to be rushed and at times I don't know how we got from one point to another. I hate giving bad reviews but this definitely needed to be longer to give the story a chance to develop and unfold.

I love Rex in these books.

"Rex seemed considerably less troubled. He stood in front of the pastry case, staring at yesterday's pumpkin muffins."
"They're not yours." His tail moved once.
"Still not yours." Another wag.
"Some of us are trying to solve a murder."
"Fine. One of us is trying to solve a murder. The other is trying to solve breakfast."

So far this book has had so many twists and turns. Poor Charlie isn't sure what is real and what's a movie in her mind. She doesn't even know if the guy she is with is dangerous. One thing she does know though is he is not telling the whole truth. I am at times having trouble keeping up with what could be real. I do think Josh/Jack is hiding something, I'm just not sure what.

Charlie's "movies" on her head are interesting. I know she is said to have hallucinations and I wonder though how they affect her classes?? I realize this is a side note and probably won't be answered because theirs something more pressing like is she in a car with a killer?!?!?

Vera believes she's ready for police department because she watches law and order and CSI. She was sadly disappointed when she came in and saw that everyone was typing. Ohh man and she tells Officer Grey that she should be leading her to her office and carry her bag.

I am finding Vera hilarious. Who else would gather people together and be so direct with why they are there.

"Richard once drove forty miles because someone told him a diner made good pie."
Richard came through the door in time to hear her. "It was excellent pie."

I would hope the pie was excellent and a great price if he drove forty miles for that pie. I also hope he got a piece to go because that is a long drive for just a slice or two of pie. I don't know if I would drive that long for a slice of pie.

Loving this easy to read book. Rex, the dog is adorable. Gotta love Maude with her systems and notebook.

On chapter 5 and I am finding Vera Wong hilarious.

Ohh man! So many twists in this book. I can't believe what happened and who was actually involved.

"Do not give me a hickey, Charlie Florek."
His eyes sparkle like fireflies. "I think it might be too late." He examines his handiwork. "You have three."
"Is this what you did when you were seventeen? Go at someone's neck like a vampire?"
"No. When I was seventeen, we'd probably both be undressed by now." He huffs out a dry laugh. "Actually, we might be getting dressed again at this point."

Quote from Heather on her sister's Ali's upcoming opening night: "I think you should put on your big-girl panties and one of your boring black jumpsuits, and just do it," she says, "And Charlie while you're at it."

Well doesn't that just say it all haha.

Rachel is awful and I have a bad feeling about this party.
