i must say, i really hate that the chapter names spoil the contents of the chapter. this isn’t a friends episode. please i just want to learn as i read the contents of the chapter, not the title.

author is doing a brilliant job showing and not telling; revealing backstory only when the situation deems it necessary and never all at once. i’m so shocked by how well the world building is while keeping us engaged. wowowowow

you know when you watch movies and you see a scene that provided nothing to the overall story? it didn’t advance the plot, detail character growth, or build the world— it was just filler? that’s what i’m realizing a lot of this book has. the author does a lot of just telling with no rhyme or reason. the street festival for example: we did this and then bought this and then ate this. pointless to the plot.

i’m on the second book of a duet and a main romantic character was introduced with the same name and spelling as my brother. don’t ask me how i’m doing.
