Definitely have to be careful reading this, some of what Fuller says is outdated or flat out false, but there are nuggets of wisdom and the constant insanity coming off each page is so entertaining.

Not bad, but kind of too aware of itself trying to be a self help type book. It formulaically spoon feeds surface level proverbs for each lesson that comes into the authors mind. There's definitely value in the ideas presented, but overall gets too repetitive and boring.

The more I read, the more I respect the character of X. Pretty much any conversation on racial tension I've heard I can identify as an echo of the intelligence of Malcolm X. I can only imagine what he would've been capable of if he didn't have to focus on addressing the atrocities of the white man to the black man. I believe his ideology holds relevance to more than just race, too.

Rich in ancient philosophy and history pertaining to the groundwork laid for presocratics. Honestly this stuff is so interesting. There is a lot of mystery as well. Pythagoras was essentially the father of the new age, discovering harmonic theory and developing a school for intellectually disciplined and talented individuals who were regarded very highly during their time.

Everything up to this point has been basically a blow by blow Scorsese script.

I finished the first 'book'. This was just the introduction. It was so magnificent and told a relevant story in itself, and it's just the beginning. While I think in reality there are flaws to the composition of the articulations about leadership, patriotism, and war. Nonetheless, Merlyn continues to steal the show and constantly teach me things in a hilarious fashion.

It's a blend of medieval Arthurian legend and absurdity on the level of Rick and Morty. But, through that absurdity, White seems to be injecting resonant social commentary on things like war and propaganda. It's a lot of fun to read although the archaic language can be puzzling.

Genesis 4-6
Very patriarchal structure of peopling. It's odd how each firstborn male is focused on and their lifespan consists of living like 100 years, having a firstborn, and then living another 700 years and having "sons and daughters". Also the wrath of God seems unjust to me, punishing Abel for doing something that hasn't even been discussed as evil. It felt like what happened between God and Adam before.

The early life of Malcolm shows the early years of a very intelligent person who is slowly entranced by the culture of hustling. His awareness of what's behind the curtain of society encourages his own view of how he fits into a world that is divided violently by race.

I get this idea of Yvon like he's just some scraggly thin guy who loves extreme outdoor activities and has a passion for nature and life. He has some very interesting philosophical points. He blends his personal philosophy with his business practice. Multiple times he will say in another way "with great power comes great responsibility". He tries to evoke hope in himself and the reader about the abuse of nature.

Genesis 1-3 has a lot to pick apart right out of the gate. The creation of all physical things gives life to Adam and Eve and through the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil", reveals the impact of abstract concepts. I got some 'Frankenstein' vibes when the confrontation between Adam and Eve and God happened in Eden. It also makes me think about the modern concept of sexuality.

I've read the intros and the first lecture. The intros build up Feynman to legendary scale. Hearing about him made me just as interested in the teacher as the subject. The first lecture was very basic stuff but I did learn some things that I didn't know already. Feynman also encourages a way of thinking that gives me a "feel" or a basic understanding of a concept instead of strictly using math to explain everything.
