as far as first impressions go, this one is... not good

i thought the quirky dialogue and personality was a fandom thing, and i can appreciate it in fandom spaces, but in a book that is centred around an apocalypse? idk, it's not that i want the characters to be miserable 24/7, but the quirkiness of grace's lines, even when he learns devastating information, takes me out of it

I'm a bit worried bc so far we've been told and not shown and so much has been unravelled already and it's still so early in the story.

Robin is in love with his friends!! That's nice to know, but I've known them for less than, what? 50 pages? I barely know these people, I don't feel as close to them as Robin does and therefore I don't really,,, care,,, that much. I'm not in love like Robin is, sadly.
