Although the context is to find justice within a state and by extension within the individual, the meaning still is close to the original quote.

According to Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus being unjust and seeming just leads to better individual rewards. Pascal's wager, but backwards.

According to Socrates (or plato) being just is not done for yourself but for the people around you.

The protagonist is 19 years old. I'm sure the author didn't mean to write her half a decade younger, but maybe it's the writing style.

There is a serious lack of the word "what", to be honest, and I personally think the frustration that came with the interlocutor would have been what precipitated language towards its current form.

Not sure if I agree that we're the only species that have a developed enough language to express abstractions and hypotheticals...
But then again, how can I ask an elephant about the intricacies of its grammar?
