Be careful that in your resistance to your father’s ways that you don’t become like your grandfather!

Apparently early radical feminist ideas largely villainized the man and wholesale suggested all men intentionally and gladly took advantage of patriarchy,

but later in the 20th century shifting toward seeing patriarchy as hurting everyone developed, hooks says men must be involved in the movement as well.

I just randomly thought “OK, I feel like doing another standalone Brandon Sanderson novel, and I saw the frugal wizard one at the library the other day, let me see if it’s got an E audiobook available online!”

Not only was there one, but it was in fact a graphic audio full cast dramatized adaptation as well!!

It’s great, some cheesy millennial humor on occasion but otherwise fun and super interesting…

The poor treatment of workers abroad translates to poor treatment of workers here.

The watered milk vendor analogy is really interesting and relevant today.

“Creative destruction“ is a popular economic term referring to how capitalism supposedly keeps a zero sum game of industry concentration, for example when manual laborers lose their job jobs to machine machines, machine operators and engineers replace them.

Small profit margins restricts creativity as it forces manufacturers to only make products that can economically compete rather than unique ones.

Nations with unskilled, impoverished citizens will always excel at the game of cheap manufacturing, inherently.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire of 1910 in New York helped kickstart the labor rights movement and develop Unions for manufacturing workers. Unions fr peaked in the early to mid 20th century...

I don’t know why I’m reading this, man. I just opened Hoopla and went to the comic section and saw this, and was like “oh I’ve seen that at Walmart” and was curious about what the Kids These Days had for scholastic book fair comics.

It turns out this is entirely for preteen girls (shocker), being about a Romanian girl moving into Canada, facing period cramps (lovely), language barriers, boys, and school…

Failures in infrastructure and economic obsession with cheap leads to country’s citizens starving while mass amounts of food are exported. There has been enough food to go around for likely a century now.

Most food goes unchecked by the FDA or USDA meaning you mostly get the Consumer Risk nonconforming food products that are ignored by exporters. Shrimp and pork especially differ from their organic counterparts.

Victor Gruen has these big cultural center areas built in Detroit that envisioned combining commerce and culture in one place which shortly after, like in the 60s, becoming the modern day shopping mall, all about buying.

But there are loiterers, and studies have been made to make places, especially restaurants, not too comfortable to have people stay and not spend money…

Geralt “That’s My Booty” of Rivia. What a guy.

Also Peter Kenny does a great job doing the exact same inflection of regular old Geralt with youth and genuinely sounding like a teenager. It’s impressive honestly. Maybe it’s just a voice modifier? Anyway great voice actor as per usual doing all the voices.

Also I like the parallel of young Geralt with Ciri from the main series.

Dispensing complaints of our mutual concern into the receptacle as part of the operation.

Much of this lately has been entirely focused on the aforementioned object of concern…

The nucleus accumbens is involved in suspense and anticipation for good or bad situations, and the prefrontal cortex more in decision making and rationality, whereas the Insula mainly is activated when feelings regarding fairness come into consideration, especially perceived unfairness. The former being activated meant deal, the latter no deal.

Alfred Hitchcock discussed the idea of suspense being more important...

Big companies invest into neurological studies of human behavior, counting quantities like fractions of a second spent looking at a certain color, etc.

Emotions critically drive decision-making. A study suggests people with significant pre-frontal cortex damage often are utterly incapable of making a decision due to endlessly being able to find a reason to and a reason not to do something. Damn me fr lol.

Just felt like listening to these last two Witcher novels since I was sort of getting tired of the mix of the albeit interesting cheap manufacturing in America history lesson and disgusting diabolical libertine degenerate lubricities…

I forgot that these books are relatively shorter than others, and that Peter Kenny really is a good voice actor. It’s super cool that he actually did the voice acting on this, 2025

Fascinating! John Wanamaker or however you spell it and Somebody Woolworth make the first big department stores, sears Macy and target follow suit.

The name of the retail game becomes selling product at such a low price that manufacturers have to constantly be producing to keep up, with the idea of a one dollar margin times 1 million sales is better than a $50 margin with 100 sales…

Amidst all the lubricities and libertine delights described forthwith, one unfortunately REAL ASF one just came up. And it was with an adult, shockingly (shocking in the context of this entire book which unfortunately does otherwise most of the time)!

I don’t know how this book could keep me entertained for another 10 hours though. This will take a while…
