Really excessive delineations of how schools and military were separate separated into time blocks with excessive detail about how discipline was implemented systematically in that way. I’m assuming this is gonna go into the prison system or criminal justice system in someway

Interesting Amsterdam case of having 8 to 12 year training prison facilities where they basically have apprenticeship camp and force the prisoner to get good at something for a job.

Apparently, typical imprisonment was not desirable in the classical period as it seemed wasteful and unhelpful. Interesting!

Thinking shifted from punishment of the individual to containment and transformation…

I skipped past the remaining 30 minutes of the torture explanation because like. I get it. It was done in part to show force by the sovereign and maintain order likewise. Yes there were many sick people who did many sick torture methods.

Next chapter, how this was considered repulsive and changed in the 19th century Enlightenment period. Nice!
