So, Diago (Vis’s real name!) and Ulcissor were attacked by the Anguis. Diago describes him as petty thugs more than noble resistance fighters. Ulcissor showed some CRAZY imbuing power by throwing a coin (assuming) and using that as a FREAKING BULLET to kill an Anguis guy. Very neat. Sedotia is the girl who was in the Theatre when Diago was fighting. Wants Diago to join her and Anguis. Neat! Diago in hospital now.

Amina almost got annihilated! Yikes! Almost turned into a monster fr. Thankfully, was saved by her boat mates and Raksh removing the monster from Amina’s heart. Yikes. Now they go and find Dunya!

Backstory of Raksh getting on the Marawati and meeting Falco! Falco forced a creature down Amina’s throat? Gross! Probably something that gives powers, or something. Yazid - Rib cage guy, can toss whole ass trees and can bend metal like a string. He’s like Bane. Amina is in a bad spot right now.

Cool Ent guy! Good ol Treebeard. Very old. Very ancient. Very cool! Treebeard is currently taking Merry and Pippin to his residence. Neat. Apparently Lórien and Fangorn got beef. Saying “Don’t go to that queer forest!” Referring to one another. Also figured out why the river is called “Entwash.”

The Uruk-Hai sent to acquire the Hobbits are dead! Mowed down by the Horse Peeps.

Raksh has joined the party! Oof. Chakraborty wrote him to be kind of zesty, not my favorite. It’s ok to make Raksh, the freaking demon, menacing and serious. Dialogue between Amina and Raksh at first felt like Marvel dialogue. Plus, Amina’s taking being with Raksh very well for being quite literally traumatized by him. Hm. The party’s in the cave, and they discovered a slaughterhouse. Dunya is missing!

Demon husband Raksh! Evil guy. Took advantage of Amina while she was drunk. Strange guy. Quite literally a demon. Like seriously. Has the ability to feed off ambition, I think.

In the Transvect! Massive transport vehicle imbued with Will; it floats! Very cool. Vis will go to the Academy to try and uncover what Religion is doing on the island, Religion is being sus. Also Ulciscor and Vis just got potentially attacked on the Transvect? Uh-oh!

Vis has been adopted by Hospius…who is actually Ulciscor! Not a sextus, but a QUINTUS! Wowie zowie. After threatening a return to Matron Atrox, Vis and Ulciscor leave the orphanage and are starting to leave Letens to Deditia, the old capital of the world befor Catens took over. Neat!

Raksh is alive! The demon that messed up Amina horribly. He is on the island! Yikes! There was a village totally annihilated with no signs of life! Yikes! Lightning smell????? Lightning spells?????? Yikes! I’m starting to question if Falco is even real and if it’s just Raksh. What was up with that big, fancy ship? Previous attempt by Salima or was it Falco’s? Also, big squid????

Majed joins the party! Yay. Off to Socotra! The island they need

Officially banished. Sadge. Back to the Orphanage, the Matron is sus. Apparently there’s a QUINTUS (super powerful, would probably just erase someone’s head plus shoulders if the Quintus struck an Octavus). The Matron would like Vis’s help (who was once a Price of Suus)

Majed to the rescue! He’s totally straightened out and has a family! But, he will help Amina since she and Majed are like family (Majed stayed with Amina when she took over the Marawati).

Super neat book. He’s part of a fight club! Well, used to be. He beat the Sextus due to the Sextus’ folly, but was banned because that wasn’t supposed to happen; a scheduled loss, it was supposed to be. A brush by the Sextus almost knocked out Vis cold. Scary. Also, Vis used to be a Price of Suus. Neat.

Made it to chapter three! Yay. The Uruk-Hai. Aragorn and company got their horses stolen! Dang it! Fangorn is an ominous wood that not even Legolas knows about, jenkies. And a mysterious old man specter showed up, interesting.

Salima is slimy. Did not tell the full truth, cannot accept the truth that Dunya probably ran away with the Falco willingly and was NOT kidnapped. Falco and Dunya are looking for the Moon of Saba, and Falco is most likely an actual magician. Dunya is very obsessed with the occult. But Amina and her crew still do not have many clues, so they’re off to Majed.

Great start. Little lost at first, but as I continued reading Islington (the author) did a good job fleshing everything out. The explanation of Will was very cool. As you go up the classes you get more will from the lower classes. And Hrolf has Alzheimer’s because of the Will getting sapped from him. Also the Sappers are horrifying.

Striking a deal with Éomer! Aragorn and his pals will go to Isengard with horses from the Rohirrim, and then return to Edoras.

So, Falco can use magic??? Layth betrayed him, therefore the money in Sirafi’s purse just spawned in his throat, choking him to death. Yikes. Also Dunya made a deal with Falco in order to leave, maybe. Yikes! Also the Moon of Saba? Neat little treasure, like the One Piece. Also Sirafi’s demon husband’s first three letters is “Rak-“. Actual demon that could use magic, manipulated luck.

Made it out of Aden! Saved Tinbu and his crew, and the Marawati has been reclaimed! Plus Yusuf stayed behind to go back to his family. And Naft is nasty, like Napalm. Amina is back on the ocean! Also some backstory of the husband perhaps? The husband was maybe a slave from Malabar?

Boromir is dead :( They did a little funeral for him.
Now they search for the kidnapped Hobbits. Currently making for the Plains of Rohirrim, to Isengard.

To rescue Tinbu! Very experienced ship guy. Need Yusuf to help them out, Yusuf is a rich, Jewish Merchant who is in love with Tinbu. Very fun.
