The murder has happened, the characters have been introduced and FINALLY in chapter 19 we are less than 20% in and the story is starting to take shape. I don't hate it.

The burn on this "thriller" is so slow that if it were an actual ember, I would be winded trying to keep it alive. It's not bad, but banish "thriller" from your mind and replace it with "plodding story progression."

Also, sex: either make it part of the story or not. Injecting it halfway through feels like a metaphor for nonexistent foreplay.

Finished "episode 1" (each book has two episodes). The only complaint is that this feels a touch juvenile at times. but all the haters can give it a rest. This has as much if not more depth than a midseason release of a network television dramedy.

laughed and cried already. I have yet to find evidence to the contrary that John Green is one of the greatest philosophers of our generation. If anything, this proves my position.

I don't understand the hate. The date seemed horrible!

It seems that by the halfway point, I figure out my thoughts on a story. So in this case, I find the content compelling. I have some issues with the narration direction (its like a noir radio play without the smoking, the "dames and broads" or the noir acting style). Do I hate it? No. Do I love it? ugh, why do I ask myself these questions?

I want to like this... I really do

I am trying to like it. Gord's vibe is the same as *that* work colleague. The one that makes you finish every conversation with "oh shoot, I have to run to a meeting," whether you have a meeting or not because being around that person is so uncomfortable.

Why does this feel like a USA TV network version of National Treasure?
