Baptism by fire. The comparisons of nursing in an ED with ample resources to now working in Sudan with only one other nurse and a registrar (with no formal training), 100 patients waiting for treatment, and 40-degree heat are incredible.
The honesty in describing compassion fatigue and the tension between delivering the best possible care while also wanting personal safety and rest is what makes this so powerful.
