Some good nuggets here. Also some fluff that I skim. It’s a mix

This book is dense and, at times, hand wavey. I’ve really enjoyed large parts of the message that they’re putting forward. Mainly, the parts of mindfulness and self compassion.

Favorite quote: “the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” - Carl Rogers

Lots to think about. This feels like a path to growth.

Doing the hard work on myself. Deeper than self-improvement things. Certainly deeper than temporary fixes and distractions.

Reinforcement and rewiring are two sides of the same coin; one just has greater resistance than the other. Since our neural pathways are plastic in nature, be careful how you think. With that, any mindset and behavior can be changed, assuming the power of cumulative effects is leveraged.

I understand the Wild-Built reference now… liking the new set of characters and adventure. As with anything, there’s the warming up period. Going through that relationship development right now.

Love this book so far. Really interesting premise. Lots of deception and hidden plots. Tons of political plays. Really good Sci-Fi book. Highly recommend

Had this series on my shelf for almost a year! Been carrying around this specific book for a few months too. Spur of the moment decision to break it open.

Really love the world building that I’m getting!! Definitely Dune vibes in terms of the socioeconomic, political, and technological structures. Exciting imagery too (which I always adore)!!

Really love the story so far. Great pacing and level of detail for the idea. The main character is lovable and their development is fun to follow! The calming and peaceful nature of this book make it a perfect bedtime routine read for me.

Also, realized while reading that I hadn’t followed a main character with such heavy usage of non-binary gender pronouns before - felt really refreshing to see!

V good still - more Italian references sprinkled in. Whole world of Italian literature in the areas of poetry, philosophy, religion, and science being exposed to me.

Particularly cool story about Lucretius, one of the two monumentous Italian poets of history (along with Dante). Lucretius went on to lay the mental framework for scientists and philosophers down the line (Galileo, Newton, Darwin, Einstein, etc.).

Some interesting snippets of Rovelli’s life influences. There are particularly neat stories near the beginning that touch on the history and philosophy of science - loved these. There are a myriad of other stories that carry cultural and philosophical significance to Rovelli, many of which connect back to his Italian roots. All in all, this book does a great job at conveying the pieces that comprise Rovelli.

So so good. Lots o’ interesting stories. Comparable to Exhalation for me. Dare I say, possibly better! The length of these short stories allows for expounded adventures that maintain surprise, development, and theme.

Pretty solid so far! Plot is intriguing enough and the web of character dynamics feels like it’s about to get a whole lot more complex - just as a good mystery does.

Loving this book so far.

Really a great light-hearted, hard Sci-fi read. Very comfortable pacing, perspective changes, and dialogue. Engaging main plot and believable developments to it. Done interesting philosophical questions asked as well, but in a subtle way. I’ve appreciated the science and engineering interwoven through the story too!

Looking forward to finishing this up in the coming days.
