Hey, so I KNOW I said I wasn’t going to read anything until I graduate, but this book is literally 113 pages long. Plus, it was finally available on Libby, so I think it is a sign.

Lie: I actually cannot bring myself to read anything until I graduate. I cannot keep pretending that I am going to read a boom I am not interested in after class😭

I know asexuality is a spectrum, but something rubs me the wrong way about a person thinking about wanting to have sex with someone who has openly told them they are wondering if they’re ace

No offense, but trying to equate Heather’s experience of eating sugar in an almond mom household to AJ and Sue’s experiences as women of color in the US and Cory Young’s experience of finding her sexual and gender identity (all in the 80s too) is fucking crazy work

I just want to go on record and say I do not remember the weird race conversation at ALL. Similarly, this book is doing a lot more “but it’s the 80s so what can you do” than I remember. Will update the people if we actually address the blatant racism in the town

I can already tell this is going to be an emotional re-read now that I know Cory Young’s lore

I do love Christopher Moore’s style of humour, but good lord is this book of its era. I could have a GREAT night if I took a shot every time the r-slur was used😀

By the way, I have finished all of my required reading for Theatre History I, so every play I read from here on out is me doing it to myself (shoutout Radiohead)

I don’t like the MC, so buckle up. One thing that is making me laugh though is her insistence that the victim couldn’t have poooooossibly killed himself without a suicide letter. As we all know, your suicide is only legally binding through your suicide letter

I had to read and annotate all of the lyrics from The Wall by Pink Floyd for a class. Does that count as a book I’ve read this year…

Genuinely baffled to learn that the author is English because this reads like the most “I’m American and writing a story set in England, so I’m going to use every piece of British English I know” writing I have ever read

Y'all are about to get a lot of play updates. So far, Creon is kind of a dick. I don't know if I 100% agree with Antigone's actions, but Creon deciding to kill her because she was mourning the death of her brother? Evil.

I cannot stop thinking about this quote on 186--"Sure, it would have been fabulous to have some of that stardust sprinkled upon me, but he was also my friend and it was a pleasure and a privilege to see him begin to make the most of his abilities". If Morrissey had an ounce of Andrew Ridgeley's empathy, maybe The Smiths would still be together. :/

Ridgeley saying he wasn’t ugly but wasn’t that attractive either when he is one of the most beautiful men I ever did see…

Anyway, I have a feeling this memoir is going to make me cry even harder than the Wham! documentary did. That is a feat as that documentary literally ruined my entire day, and I cried myself to sleep over it.
