My favorite character changes with every chapter. Bev is my hero! Bill is obviously the wisest character, Mike is breaking my heart, Stanley already did, Eddie is like so brave for someone who thinks he's not, and Ritchie was funny but still so bittersweet. I can't choose.

“Maybe this isn't home, nor ever was- maybe home is where I have to go tonight. Home is the place where when you go there, you have to finally face the thing in the dark.” [p. 94]

These first 100 pages aren't dragging at all even though there is so much detail. I love the main characters so far, Eddie is so brave honestly, but Stanley broke my heart.

I've never read about a character that I feel so many conflicting emotions for - sympathy, irritation, hatred, even a bit of hurt. She is so destructive and she doesn't even know it.

There are certain parts where the writing is too over the top so you're pulled out of the story but I love it so far.

Started reading this because I saw a review where someone said it was like "Heathers" and, as an ex-theatre kid, I adore that. First few pages are so good, like the prose is dramatic and frilly and yet it's already creepy.

So many more pages in and still it feels like nothing has happened. Stuff is happening but we're no closer to any answers it feels like. To be fair this is a fairly long series, so I don't know why I'm surprised I just wish there were at least more than a few random events here and there.

Reading this is like eating little nibbles of food. It's going to take forever to get through and, not because it's not a good book, but because it's just so good. It's a wonderful (& a little strange).

I just wish something would happen. But I'm also incredibly impatient. I love the main character so much though.

"The false hope I had been relying on for years, that things would eventually improve and that I could figure what I did to pull this in, dissipated in a blinding moment of clarity. I knew it would never get better...no matter what I confessed to..." {pg. 229}

"It is a recurring theme of scientology - the hope that tomorrow, next week, or next year, things that have been promised will be realized." {p. 68}

This is how I know I’m getting picky when it comes to books but if she mentions one more time about how better looking her sister is than I’m dnf-ing. Entire pages have been dedicated to this. We get it you’re uglier than the troll under a toll bridge and models should be taking tips from your sister on how to be pretty - move on!

I swear I used to like historical romances but now they just irritate me. The main female character could literally be replaced by a sock puppet and you would never be able to tell the difference.

A reminder to little old me for later. If she forgives you know who this book is getting three stars I do not care how good the last 150 or so pages are. 🔪

There is something so annoying about a book that keeps asking questions. I swear this book would be ten times better if she stopped doing that. It’s an enjoyable read so far, very romantasy, tortured love interest, clumsy fmc, but I like that she’s not a perfect character either.
