no, I'm not just finally getting this off of my tbr shelf because of something that dropped on hbo. i don't know why you would even ask that...👀

I have been in a really bad reading slump so I'm going back to my roots. Mafia romances. Hopefully this will cure me.

34% - I have, in the past two days of reading, made 83 highlights, 32 notes and lost countless minutes literally just staring at the wall. The main thing I do with books that are historical, is to highlight and note it - to be sure that what I am reading is the truth, the whole truth (as much as I can get) and nothing but the truth, but this is just a very long read. I don't care what the pg. count says.

I've finished Ch. 1.
I feel like I should start off by saying I dislike AI being used for things like this, and I doubt this book is going to change that. This first chapter was gross & it was weird.

The constant references to how magical Native Americans are is making me want to dnf. Also "noble savage" has been said at least 10 times...// 😑

I can't. I can't. I don't know why this has such a hold on me, but I am obsessed - it's such a good book but I don't think I'll survive 300 more pgs. Because what do you mean "he was my joy?" what do you mean!? "seeing him again had rewritten her!" what!? I don't know, maybe I'm just in the mood to be obsessed but no there's just something so good about this. idk

I can't - I literally cannot! This is too much! Help!! 😭❤️

These timeskips are stupid and useless. Also this is a lot more lighthearted than I was led to believe. For some reason, I think that if you enjoy "eat, pray, love" and dark romance, you'd like this book.

If you have two audio book narrators, why are the narrators still doing the deep and high voices for the other characters? Nothing pulls me out of a book faster than a high-pitched voice from a man.

Oh, those are red flags, I thought they were wayfinders 🫣

Characters telling other characters about how grateful they should be to other characters who are assholes to them without saying why will always be the most annoying thing in books. ("You should be nice to him even though he's a complete pos to you. He's been through a lot! Why be nice and fall at his feet? Well, I can't tell you *mystery* and all that bs.") 🙄

You know I've figured out my issues with most Fantasy Romances. They're CONSTANTLY talking about how beautiful the other character is, even after only knowing each other 2.5 seconds. ("Why am I attracted to her!?" "I know he just threatened to kill me but what about his cute butt?" "He called me another woman's name but WHAT about his cute butt!?") Seriously, I feel like Odette from Swan Lake, "BuT wHaT ElSe?!"

I hope this author writes forever - how is it so good?

I'm only 27% of the way through it and though I find some of the usual tropes (including the "he's so hot, she's so hot, all these people are so hot") kind of irritating I really do like Nevada - the Graphic Audiobook though is downright painful. I am so sorry to the narrators but sometimes they're cringe-inducing levels of bad.

I'm struggling not because this book is bad but because it's so much (😩)

I brought the God of Fury audiobook. I will be unavailable for the next 20 hrs. Work, who? Father's Day, what? [also, I may need way more than 20 hrs. considering the amount of rewinding I'm doing cause omg Niko and Bran are my fav. book couple!]
