Victorian women acted rather strangely when it came to personal involvment with others

at least I learned what being bankrupt in England during Victorian times meant: you went to a place called the 'workhouse' and did stuff like breaking rocks. Interesting approach.

it's gotten much better, as usual, it takes Eliot a little over a hundred pages to get the ball rolling. Best part so far: the confrontation with Tom and his uncle. Tom wants to get rich quick and thinks that he should be given a head start, but his uncle slaps him down quick. A good lesson there for the youth of today, who seem much the same as Tom. I should know, I have to work with one.

Pretty good stuff, how did I miss this one growing up? Well, I DID see 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars,' when I was a kid (outdoor movies on a real screen at the campground on Sebago Lake, good memories) but I don't think that's quite the same.

it's been over 10 years since Weis and Hickman were able to publish Dragonlance, and now the wait is finally over! Sad they had to file a lawsuit to be able to do it. A big 'screw you' to TSR for their holding Weis and Hickman back. After the number of garbage Lance books published by other authors (most of whom were pretty bad) it's nice to have the series back on track.

This kicks ass, the film had a fair amount of variation and condensing. Very amusing when the Count got young Albert wasted on some good middle eastern hashish.

Getting close to the end! Who knew sewers could be so interesting? And is Valjean ever going to catch a break?

beautiful stories, it's sad that some dickheads painted the little mermaid statue with the words 'racist fish.' Get a life people! Everyone needs to relax and knock it off with this PC nonsense. none of it will matter in the end anyhow, it all comes out in the wash.

Just read 'The Nightingale,' I forgot how much fairy tales are, kinda makes me wish I had kids to read them to. I shall be content reading them to the cats.

Hey, I finally read 'The Little Mermaid' and 'The Ugly Duckling' stories! Good for kids, I love the happy endings. I wonder if the Disney version of 'Mermaid' was the same?

Dammit, my 'Star Wars' virus kicked in again, and dragged me back to reading yet another one. I swear, it's a worse disease than the kung flu! Sometimes, I do wish the Star Wars authors would put a 'cast of characters' section before the story that identifies the main players. It's tough at times keeping track of them all, due to the goofy names. Wendig does a better job on it that some other SW authors, though.

The first 150 pages were the setup for the comet hitting, and kind of lackluster. Once the comet hit, the story really took off. So far, a good story of Armageddon. Also: it's pretty funny to read a story where blacks still called whites 'honkies,' when's the last time you heard that term? Quite amusing! Come to think of it, what do they call whites for a derogatory term these days? I have no clue.

Well written, but obviously a vehicle for the author to spout his political views. Funny how one can get lauded for using stereotypes, as long as they are from a liberal point of view. Anyone tries to use black or gay stereotypes, and people lose their friggin' minds. Still, an interesting book to this point, enough to ignore the tubthumping from the author.
