“There’s something wrong with me”. “No there was something wrong with him”. Yes. Yes there 1000000% was. Ugh. I hate that she even thinks about him.

A wall to protect them from the outside world? Ummmm Ernt you’re the biggest monster of the world. Ugh I hate this man so much.

Quite literally the most epic battle I have ever read. And I’ve read many great ones. This one topped them all. Omg. Needed to pause just to take a breath.

I despise ernt allbright with every cell in my being.

Booked a trip to Alaska so it felt like the right time to embark on another KH story (:

Pretty slow start for me, I think if it weren’t for it being a Bookclub selection, I would’ve probably DNF. However, I’m thoroughly intrigued now and looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds!!

I’ve waited way too many months to start this one since I was so disappointed with EH’s last book, so I was on the fence. But it’s day oneeee and IM IN IT.

The storyline and changing timeline/story line perspectives is totally captivating.

Also - Love when a book inspires and makes me wish I had pursued a different career. Aka for now, I wish I was a reporter.

Is it me or does the fact that diem refuses to end Vance make her even MORE irritating than she already is? Like I get it, you want to protect mortals. But Vance is the biggest and worthless A hole. Be gone.

October Bookclub pick!! Looking forward to a thriller (:

I understand world building and character development is super important and takes time….. but my gawwwwwd let’s get to it please. 77% in and still minimal action/plotting/ah-ha moments/cunning behavior …. So many 5 stars though so I’m pushing through.

Ok I’m officially hooked. The gargoyle has me cackling every time he talks. I think I already understand the “story” he tries to tell…..

POSSIBLE SPOILER/just my assumption of where this might go:
The bitch abbess steals kids. Sees who can dream. Works them for 10 years. Then kills them. The bat gargoyle just got sick of it and had enough.

I’ve never felt the need to update much. But UGH MY HEART. THE HEROS. THE BRAVE. THOSE WHI FOUGHT FIE WHAT IS RIGHT. the selflessness. The history. Replaying so many scenes in my mind all day.

So far slow; but intriguing. So many beautiful sentences - particularly the ones about the importance and beauty of books to an individual.

Things I LOVED, things I didn’t. Things I’ll immediately implant. Things I won’t. Alot of it made me laugh and feel seen. Some hmmmmm not really moments. Anyway loved this as my first parenting book. There’s no right way or wrong way to parent, there’s your way and it’s your right (:

YES!! Greetings, both hello & goodbye, shouldn’t be something set aside or the “they’ll say hi if they want to”. Encouraging greetings will fortify the ability to engage in relationships, to allow a child to acknowledge others have feelings too, & they give as much as they receive. Saying hello is something I have engrained in my baby. It gives a sense of confidence and independence too. Also: manners.

I have never felt so seen/heard. In no way shaming ways of Americans, but alot of the themes/messages brought up in this book are so relatable - I didn’t even realize I’ve been raising my kiddos in what Pamela would call the French manner. Cautious limitations with freedom. Gentle but firm reminders of how to behave.
The only new goal to tackle is minimize snacking and baking more croissants on the weekend lol

lol to the “pause” - the French think it’s just common sense. Which I completely agree. Only at 20% but already concluding I’ve raised French babies

3.5 stars. Could have been better. Could have been worse. I’m Really liking the characters.
