Does anything happen in this book? Um sorry I don’t need to read a play by play of an online game you are playing.

I’ve officially started skipping the sex scenes. Not skimming, just loping on ahead. But at this point I don’t think these characters are getting any more developed, are they? I’m at 67% but there’s a sneak peek at another book so really I’m over 75%.

I just don’t understand this woman. Why is she borrowing her landlord’s ladder without his permission and placing a bat box on a tree on his property without asking? That’s not independence— it’s not appropriate.

Um why doesn’t this grown woman tell her landlord that there is a bat in her rental?
I love MZs stories, but her FMCs are so annoying.

Re-reading by listening to the audiobook. This was my favourite MZ in the past but I think audiobook MZ is a mistake. In paper, I can just skim and skip over the insane amount of unnecessary detail and repetitive thought cycles her FMCs get into. In audio I am stuck!

Well I dnf’d the first in this series and I’m feeling like I might do it again… I just hate when a character’s whole personality and the whole plot of the book comes down to one thing! She likes riding horses. Fast. OK? And?

OMG got home from the gym, saw this email. Immediately bought the book (yay she’s on Kobo now!)! How am I supposed to get anything done over the next few days??!

I haven’t enjoyed a recently written HR as much as this in a long time. The author is magically walking the very thin ridge between the Valley of Jerk MMCs and the Valley of Too Nice but can’t be with her for reasons MMCs on either side. This MMC is so kind and so into her and he is trying to propose but do it the right way — just loving it!

Feeling incredibly SEEN by the author’s note. Oy not sure I’m ready for my romance to get too real.

I’ve had this since release day and have been putting off starting it. I know it’s going to be great. Can’t start it before bed because I won’t sleep. Can’t start it during the day because I won’t get anything else done. I’m just going to have to lose sleep, aren’t I?

I also think dramatic irony is a tough road for an author. The risk is that by letting the readers have some information that the characters don’t have in order to build suspense can also frustrate the reader and make us feel like we are dealing with a bunch of idiots.

I think I came into this riding high on vibes (this duo has very Rhys and Feyre before they… you know… “know,” or like Kylo Ren and Rey). But instead I’m just annoyed that they don’t instantly understand what’s happening lol.

I’m annoyed that their mutual misunderstanding is still in full play. And I’ve realized that this author writes novels that are sort of like mini series. So we get lots of “screentime” with everyone, villains included.

I am loving this on re-read. It feels as satisfying as any 5 star of AC that I have read or listened to before. Also I’m really enjoying this narrator. She does Teddy and Jeremy so well. You can hear the bite in Jeremy’s aristocratic voice.

This is by far the best one yet! She’s changed things up to a slow burn with some added outside angst, all on a survivalist’s “road trip!”

Just waiting for this woman to take a bath please. Also the audiobook reader has the worst pauses. Long enough to make me think the audio stopped but the second I begin to turn my head to see, it starts again. Feel lil I’m going crazy!

Oh yes 20 something childless mother of none please tell me again how if I just feed and water my children they won’t have meltdowns.
Have you ever tried to feed and water children before? Did you know they most likely won’t want the food on offer?

This book has come highly recommended and so far I agree. But I am already annoyed by two things. Why not just use italics to emphasize a phrase instead of an entirely different cursive font?

Also a mom sent her a 6pg document on how to babysit her child for two days (no overnight) and she said that it made her tear up with how much this mom loved her kid. This woman can’t ever actually have worked as a nanny.

This is seeming as good as book 1, and I still love Lou from the first book. If only the author would stop referencing the FMC flattening out her bulky winter clothes so no one will think she has a *GASP* “unflattering lump at her midsection.” These micro-fatphobic remarks really bug me.

This is by far her best book I think. It’s single POV, and I normally prefer dual, but it’s working really well here. Also maybe her sense of humour is just working for me this time?

Now a good old fashioned kidnapping scene to top this all off

Ohhhhh maybe it’s a romance between her and her MIL? They are the ones spending all the time together, getting to know one another, MIL is buying her jewels. This makes much more sense now.

Is anything going to happen in this book? 41% and our MCs have had all of three conversations which are basically repeating the same things. And he hasn’t taken anytime to figure out what happened, just assuming she’s a problem to be dealt with. Meanwhile she’s like “oooh whyyy am I having all these fluttery feelings!”

Ugh it seems like she saved the really religious stuff for the end.

I’m liking this so much and just don’t know why?!!
And then the FMC just had to PRAY TO JESUS to stop her from having sex when like the most that was about to happen was a first kiss? But I kind of glossed over and just kept reading.
