reading it is one thing but integrating it in my life though...

damn i thought this was gonna get five stars. the theory is fine and all but his experience told me everything i needed to know. the first part spoke for itself, second feels weak in comparison. maybe it's just that it reads like a textbook.

I understood everything until pointers came along. Gosh.

didn't read as much as i wanted to.. i want to complete this asap

It's very interesting but it isn't for beginners and some concepts aren't explained thoroughly. I wasted so much time on GR today because I didn't want to read this.. I mean, it's good but my tolerance for programming has become so low now.

Note to self: Read 4.11.2 (Macro Substitution) again.

i thought i'd finish it in a day or two but it's incredibly hard to get through. probably going to be five stars (maybe four idk). it's a goldmine from a psychological perspective.

and to think of my trifling troubles now..

So many people recommended this to me. I was supposed to read this in April of 2023 with a friend, but we lost contact. Heard so much praise about this book that I'm kind of afraid that my expectations won't be satisfied.

the excerpt of nikolai kirsanov's appreciation of art and nature and remembrance of his late wife was described beautifully.

It starts out with the basics, same old, but it is more interesting to read. It's not perfect and it's definitely outdated but I kind of like it.

The protagonist feels so similar to the Ridiculous man, only a bit less frantic.

there's some solid advice but like a lot of self help books it's mostly just reaffirming what we already know. easy read, feels conversational.

Ekman describes how he conducted his research overcoming the language barrier by asking the participants of New Guinea to construct a story about photographs depicting facial expressions, and how those people were given a situation and asked to act out their expression in such a case. Result was that some emotions were universal, discrepancies arise when societal demands are imposed to hide them.

Nothing radically life changing to me, much of it already fits my worldview or feels like common sense. Unrelated but I stumbled upon Chopin Op 28 N 24 and what have I been doing with my entire life? I just love it.
