I hate it when reviewers bring up bisexuality when talking about old lesbian books whose characters obviously don't have real feelings for men. Being able to have sex with a man without vomiting and/or dying does not make a woman bisexual. Action =/= attraction, c'mon guys!!

I absolutely love when lesbian pulps get down with Freudian stuff. By all means girl go crazy bc you're in love with your mother or got molested as a child. Have a relationship with a wild age gap. Horny traumatised characters aren't "homophobic" or "of their time", they're just representative of a certain group of people that pulp haters seem to really have a problem with.

Actually more chill than I expected. It probs won't be a 4 or 5 star because I can't meaningfully engage with media about child sexual abuse whilst recovering from a mental health crisis about the abuse I faced...but at least I am finally reading THE Toni Morrison after borrowing n returning her books unread from the library for years.

Reading a book about Black girlhood whilst having an existential crisis about how I, as a Black girl, did not have a childhood. 100% by accident too since I can't control when my library's reserves come in.

It's about a femme lesbian coping with hypersexuality and trauma (very much NOT autofiction or memoir). The closest comparison to a published work would be Notice by Heather Lewis. Genuinely might rate this one star because it's so painfully meandering and pretentious. Also annoyed to find it on archive.org after paying for it.

I can tell this is gonna be a slog; even their writing style in the introduction is hard to read.
