I might have to stop denying the series-lover allegations because I do adore the routine comfort of them. I find these books (and my previous review of one of them) so cringeworthy in many places but I keep going back because I like feeling the same way every single week.

I'm trying my best to be interested but I think it might be a cold day in hell before I finish this. Litfic writers please start making your first-person narratives less distant so I can actually give a rat's behind about your characters.

I don't normally like reading mysteries that have no romance (the fact that I read lesbian mysteries for the romance is a story for another post) but I had to go back to my comfort series because my anxiety is coming back in full force.

When my silly little light mystery series turns into genuine heartbreak because the main couple broke up but I can't wait 2 weeks for the next book to ship so I have to use 10MinuteMail to reinstate my account on a famous library website in order to check if they get back together or if the MC is just doomed to eternal misery.

I hate it when reviewers bring up bisexuality when talking about old lesbian books whose characters obviously don't have real feelings for men. Being able to have sex with a man without vomiting and/or dying does not make a woman bisexual. Action =/= attraction, c'mon guys!!

I absolutely love when lesbian pulps get down with Freudian stuff. By all means girl go crazy bc you're in love with your mother or got molested as a child. Have a relationship with a wild age gap. Horny traumatised characters aren't "homophobic" or "of their time", they're just representative of a certain group of people that pulp haters seem to really have a problem with.

Actually more chill than I expected. It probs won't be a 4 or 5 star because I can't meaningfully engage with media about child sexual abuse whilst recovering from a mental health crisis about the abuse I faced...but at least I am finally reading THE Toni Morrison after borrowing n returning her books unread from the library for years.

Reading a book about Black girlhood whilst having an existential crisis about how I, as a Black girl, did not have a childhood. 100% by accident too since I can't control when my library's reserves come in.

It's about a femme lesbian coping with hypersexuality and trauma (very much NOT autofiction or memoir). The closest comparison to a published work would be Notice by Heather Lewis.
