I had the pleasure of hearing Chris LaTray read from his work and speak. He is full of passion and humor. I am excited to really get into this work.

I'm not usually too keen on retellings. However, I am giving this one a fair go because I have heard positive reviews.

My progress is slow going, but only because it is hard to find the time. This has been an interesting read so far.

This book is worth the read for the footnotes alone. They are delightful.

I feel like my prediction is spot on and I have questions about the readers who did not see this coming. I think I am entering this title with very different background knowledge.

I have not started this book; however, the cover provides clues. Folks calling this a retelling of Beauty and the Beast must not be familiar with stories about women who marry bears. Based on Ivey's other novel, the cover art, and the tantalizing tidbit on the jacket flap - this is a contemporary portrayal of the story of the woman who married a bear. The choice between man and bear predates social media, by a lot.

For an older volume, much of it still holds up today.

This has been a fun collection of science history tidbits.

This has been a fast paced adventure. I can see why it was selected for recognition as an adult title for high school students. Halfway through and I am curious about how it is all going to wrap up in the end.
