I went into this book wanting to get a better insight into what life with an alcoholic is like, in any relation or acquaintance, and what I have ended up with is an incredible (though sometimes dated) deep insight into the mind of the alcoholic themself. Being able to step into their shoes and see their own addiction and the misery it causes both them and everyone around them has been staggering.

Halfway through, and while I’m having fun with this I am also struggling with the overbearing amount of unnecessarily specific descriptions of things from clothes down to the chairs people sit on. The number of callbacks to the show is heavy handed, often feeling dumped in just so they’re there and not because they add anything. It’s cute, but not the really nostalgic feel I’d been hoping for.

I’m really loving this trip through Greek mythology and a deep look at how women were often either overlooked or misrepresented.
