Honestly, a shining example of how queer history books should be approached and written. Chef's kiss.

So far this book is a testimony of how femme history was supressed: even focusing on the women, the author has to follow literal crumbs and present them within the male context

Very lukewarm? It has its moments though, but so far a bit disappointing (or maybe just not for me).
I get a feeling I would have liked it if I read it aged 16 instead of now.

Privileged, rich woman makes further choices that make me cringe with second hand embarrassment. The way aging and old women are seen through the character’s eyes is painful. I am however fascinated by her motivations. Let’s see how this ends.

privileged, rich woman lacks sense of purpose and agency in her life so she decides to use her money and new freedom to go on a narcissistic bender. // lots of deep and accurate reflections on patriarchy and motherhood prompt me to keep reading (and so does my fascination with deeply unlikeable characters).
