This book isn't keeping my attention as well as the rest of the series. It's too much stage setting with not enough action mixed in. The whole book is filler. Pros: Auren is getting control of her magic and healing. I enjoy getting more backstory of Slade and Ryatt. Cons: Too many POVs and lack of cohesive storyline. I'm sure it will be important later, but I really don't care about Malina right now.

Malina's POVs bore me and I'm finding myself dragging my feet thru this book. It's too much scene setting and not enough action.

Finally getting the deep dive into Slade's mind that I needed!

FINALLY!! The slow burn was worth it. The writing has taken a small, and I'm not fully believing the innocent "you're so crass" version of Auren. Girl has been around the block, so the flirting/crass language shouldn't be new to her. I'm sure Midas talked to her in the heat of it all. RIP is perfect, no notes at this time.

Is it kind of trash? Yes. But I'm a raccoon. Nothing exciting is happening, and yet I'm kicking my feet.

I LOVE a slow burn and I love a Doberman man! Rip has the potential to be one of my new favorites.

10 chapters in and I can see several major "plot twists" coming already.

Thus far its an easy read. Most of these characters remind me of game of thrones characters. It's close to reality with little hints of fantasy.

This is the first book in a long time that made me FEEL something. It's definitely a slow burn, but the love is so genuine. It put me right back to being a 16 year old messed up kid again.

.."was just handed 200 hours of community service and a felony misdemeanor charge." Is it a felony or is it a misdemeanor? Immediately took me out of the book. Sorry that's a me issue.

The overuse of the phrase "spinning me up" is a little grating, BUT I'm clearly not reading this for the prose. I love it when the boyfriends are boyfriends!

Poppys family is FUCKED up dude. The vibes are very much giving if Rory Gilmore was a hockey slut and I'm so here for it. Lukas is so guarded and a territorial ass so naturally, I love him.

The writing style envelops every sense and is very immersive. It's very atmospheric. Reminds me of the Mummy or Indiana Jones.

I'm so hopeful for Emrys redemption arc!!
