Not enjoying the weird 3rd act BS just before a HEA. How is Aidan so confident and possessive one minute and then insecure about some flowers the next minute? It feels wishy washy from emotional intelligence to insecure and distant. I could have done without this "tension" but I'm hopeful the big love confession is worth it.

Alternate universe gilmore girls but without as many cheap cultural throw away references. I know i signed up for slow burn but now im getting antsy. The intern is such a real one to have on your side. 'Lucie is the magic' AMEN. Love a whimsical and quirky FMC.

'Then I think about Lucie in a bonnet and retract that statement' - giggling and kicking my feet!! This is the cheesy, rom-com I needed. Gilmore Girls meets Sleepless in Seattle. It's cozy, banter heavy, and slow burn.

Is it a rinse and repeat? Yes. It's very much a fridge size man who radiates heat and has a heart of gold. I'm a simple woman, and the YEARNING is there. I normally hate a miscommunication trope, but I'm willing to make an exception for Hazelwood. This man will Bark if she asks, and I love a simp.

Note I'm doing the audio, and I generally prefer print or Kindle* 1 chapter in, and it feels like a self insert fan fiction. It's more than a little cringe, and that's okay. May not actually finish this, but I'll give it a college try.

Green beautifully demonstrates the symbiosis of illness/death and societal norms. I think this will be a book I have to revisit to fully absorb the good information.

I'm trying to love it, but this actually kind of sucks. If you're going to make me wait 80% through a book for a real make-out session or any smut for that matter, then it better be good. The sexual tension was better than the sex itself.

The world building feels clunky and superficial. If you're going to take shots at catholicism, then at least make the shots count.

I started this on a whim and haven't been able to put it down. I'm not loving it the same way I've loved other works by the author. It's easy to follow and has cult/religious themes that I enjoy. The MMC rolled 6 blunts for the FMC and her sisters and I SWOONED.

I'm enjoying the web that Green is weaving. It's a complex narrative of personal testimony, scientific discovery, philosophy, and condemnation of for-profit medicine. One minute, Green mentions Red Dead Redemption II, and the next minute, I'm crying over the destitute children in West Africa.

The audio book is 10000% the move! I went into this with high expectations, and they have been surpassed. In chapter 10 she discusses her views on parenthood, and I sobbed. It's incredible how a strange can so clearly articulate things you've struggled with in your own head.

It's plot and yearning and BANTER. I'm thoroughly entertained and can't wait to get book 2. It has many of my favorite tropes and micro tropes, like the cave scene. This high feels like reading Acotar for the first time, and I'm just riding the high.

Before I finish, I want to make some guesses about major characters.
-Raihn is the next Rishan Heir
-Oraya stabs Raihn in the final but misses his heart

This is what I needed to get out of my slump!! I love games and trials. It's got layers of plot and subplot. It's got such good tension and banter! I can already feel some of the betrayals and some good foreshadowing for what will ultimately unlock her magic. She's always viewed her humanity as her weakness, but it's actually her greatest strength. I love the depth of the characters thus far.

I'm not ready for the devastation. Patroclus helping in the medic tent and finding purpose heals my heart a little bit. Briseis seems like a true friend to Patroclus and helped bring him out of his shell.

Some of the most clear and expressive descriptions of people, emotions, and nature i have ever read. The way Patroclus loves Achilles is gut-wrenching, all-consuming, and haunting. Their love is as easy as breathing and truly makes me believe in soulmates.

I'm super late to the party... I did not immediately fall in love with the story, and it took a while for me to adjust to the writing style. I enjoy the first-person POV. The language is beautifully descriptive, and the varying sentence structure keeps my brain engaged. It's refreshing and deeply emotional. I KNOW this book will rip my heart out.

Temporarily DNF. It's just not sparking any interest and is dragging out the story.

This book isn't keeping my attention as well as the rest of the series. It's too much stage setting with not enough action mixed in. The whole book is filler. Pros: Auren is getting control of her magic and healing. I enjoy getting more backstory of Slade and Ryatt. Cons: Too many POVs and lack of cohesive storyline. I'm sure it will be important later, but I really don't care about Malina right now.

FINALLY!! The slow burn was worth it. The writing has taken a small, and I'm not fully believing the innocent "you're so crass" version of Auren. Girl has been around the block, so the flirting/crass language shouldn't be new to her. I'm sure Midas talked to her in the heat of it all. RIP is perfect, no notes at this time.

Thus far its an easy read. Most of these characters remind me of game of thrones characters. It's close to reality with little hints of fantasy.

This is the first book in a long time that made me FEEL something. It's definitely a slow burn, but the love is so genuine. It put me right back to being a 16 year old messed up kid again.

Ngl it feels a little like a Justin Bieber fan fiction from my Wattpad days. The banter is cute even if "Shannon like the river" is highly overused.
