He took my hand, winding his fingers between mine and pressing his mouth to the back of my knuckles. I chanced a look his way and my heart pounded as I found nothing but happiness in his eyes. Then he said six words that made my heart shine like the moon. “Good, because I feel it too.”

“When we were in the battle and you were about to die, I felt compelled to save you. Like…if I didn’t a part of me would die too. And ever since then, that part of me is getting stronger like it’s become this tangible thing that lives in me. I’ve never been a jealous person before but when I see you with Francesca it’s like I turn into an animal with nothing but basic instincts.I told you it was crazy.”

“What kind of thing do you have for me?” He shot me a mischievous glance.

“It will sound crazy,” I said slowly.

“I like crazy. Did you not get the memo when I tried to cook myself earlier?”

“Promise you won’t laugh?” I asked, heat invading my cheeks.

“On the stars.”

“Hm...you’re missing something though.” He reached behind his seat and produced the crown he’d won at the fair, placing it on my head. I smiled so wide my cheeks hurt.

“Better,” he said.

“If you go around placing crowns on my head, you’re going to be in trouble,” I teased and his mouth skewed.

A deep growl emanated from his throat as he found his way barred by my pantyhose. He ripped a hole in them between my thighs and I sucked in a breath of surprise.

I smacked his chest as another tear spilled over. He caught it at the edge of my chin, wiping it away with his thumb.

“I’m sorry.”

That sentence did so many things to me it was unreal. Anger, rage, delight at the last bit.

Orion paid me zero attention, curling an arm around her waist and tugging her against his hip. “Do you want the blue Pegasus or the silver?”

“Blue,” Francesca decided.

I hurried over to one where the prize was a four foot Pegasus stuffed toy. Its horn glittered and every part of its coat shone like stars. “Ooo,” I cooed.

“I’ll win you it,” Diego said…Diego didn’t get a single shot and slammed the gun down in annoyance.

“Move over,” the deep voice made my heart churn up and turn to mulch. Orion pushed Diego aside.

“You know I can't,” I sighed. “It's too risky.”

“Five more minutes then I’ll take you back,” he offered and I gave in, unable to resist spending a little longer with him like this.

“You drive a hard bargain, Mr Orion.”

He grinned darkly. “I can drive an even harder one if you want?”

“Very tempting, but I'm not sure five minutes is long enough for your hard bargain.”

“If you want me to stop, tell me to stop,” he said breathlessly and I wrapped my legs around his waist.

“Okay, don't stop,” I exhaled and a heady laugh fell from my lungs as he drew me flush against him, feeding on my desire.

“I want you to the point of pain, Blue.”

“Then have me,” I commanded.

Instead of giving me more of his mouth on mine, he painted a line of kisses up to my ear. He pushed his fingers into my hair, his touch like a drug bleeding into my veins and I shut my eyes to savour the high.

“What would you like me to say?”

“You haven't made any comment on me coming here.”

“Give a guy a second. One minute I'm messaging you wishing I could have you right here and the next thing...” He leaned in, kissing the corner of my mouth and I melted. Or that was what it felt like anyway. As if there wasn't a single solid organ in my body. “Here you are.”

I ACTUALLY CANT BREATHE

“Are you angry that I came here?”

“No.”

“Is that all you can say now?” I asked, growing frustrated as he lifted his head and slid his hand onto my cheek, his fingers tangling in my hair.

“No,” he said with a grin.

“Stop it,” I begged, pushing against his chest, but he responded by pressing me back and closing the distance parting us. His heated skin moulded to mine and it felt so good.

“Blue,” I answered his ongoing question on a breath that rose before me in a cloud of vapour, knowing that it meant far more than that. That I'd just told him I wanted him. And in turn, agreed to this dangerous affair.

He said nothing as the rain continued to beat down on me and fear made a passage through my chest, clasping my heart with sharp claws. “I just...came to tell you that.”

He stared at me with his mouth parted, his throat bobbing as he processed me standing on his doorstep with soaked blue hair and raindrops clinging to my cheeks.

Orion made me want to jump in the deep end of this desire head first without question. And though I was completely terrified of that, it also made me feel incredibly alive.
