"I told you, didn't I?" Wren's savage voice resonates in the car, and my nerves fade into butterflies at the sound. "That if anything happened to her, there would be nowhere for you to hide."
He hangs up right away. I lick my lips, look at both of them, and whisper, "I think you made him snap." A second later, something crashes into our car.

What the actual fuck

"This one looks like he enjoys mind-fucking people." He nudges his chin toward Achilles, then adds, "I've seen you somewhere."

"Dance class," Achilles replies casually. And I can't control the surprise on my face as I look at my friend. "Long story," he tells me.

"Right," Nate confirms. "And this one is obviously a murderer. It's written on his face."

Fucking hell, he’s weirdly accurate.

PLOT TWIST
"I learned your M.O.," she whispers. "The letters. The paper in your hand. You have no idea how scared I was when I killed the first one. I thought…what if Wren does remember? What if he knows he didn’t do it? But then you ran after me when I left the library, and I asked you if you'd killed Josh. You really thought you had." She laughs to herself, almost like this whole thing was too easy for her.

So, like a cat not interested in playing with an unconscious mouse, I drop him, dust off my shirt, and turn back to her, facing away from the two men at my feet.
"Yes?"
"I wanted to say…that the, uh, the scratches on my shoulders..." She gulps "They're from when I climbed the wall to get into the temple’s gardens."

I blink at her. Oh. Now that's a rather unfortunate misunderstanding.

I grab him in a headlock and press my forearm and biceps together. He squeaks, tapping my arm and attempting to push me away, to no avail.
"Wren!"
"One minute, Penelope baby. I'm kind of busy right now," I answer cheerily.

God, I love this woman. Her bravery is truly unmatchable
. "Did you know she once threw a chair at a coffee shop barista who told her to ‘give him a smile’? He said it once, and she warned him not to say it again. And he did. Always listen to her warning," I say.

“You’re back early” he tells Wren.

Wrens eyes bore into me, up and down they go, analyzing my entire body and setting me on fire.
“Yeah,” he finally says. I missed being home.”

“Let me guess.” Achilles snorts. “Home is Peach.”

Wrens tongue darts to his lower lip, his beautiful eyes not leaving mine as he makes me melt entirely.
“Home is Peach,” he confirms.

"Now listen, you can stay and enjoy your party. Or you can be a good girl and go home. But I just want you to know something. If you so much as talk to Elijah again, I promise you the second I'm back in Silver Falls, his head is going to meet my fist so many times he won't have a functioning mouth to talk with anymore."

I’ve got so many problems.

Wren: consider this a general rule. No hanging out with my brother anymore.
I blink at it. How the hell does he know where I am? He said he was leaving for a week?
Wren: that includes his fucking hand on your shoulder.
I’m not sure what to say until my eyes cross with Achilles. My friend is holding his phone as if he’s just about to text someone.
“Motherfucker,” I hiss.

“Have you seen it? When he snaps?” He insists
I keep hearing that word around him. Snap. Like he’s some sort of beast who can’t control his killing urges.
“I haven’t” I admit. “I don’t think so. And I want to know what the means exactly but-“
“That’s why our family had problems with him. He’s uncontrollable. Dangerous.”

"Wren," I say shakily. "Did you... Josh?" My heart pounds harder, anticipating his answer.
He shrugs. "Probably."
I knew it. He doesn't remember when it hap-pens. I understood it the first time he admitted he thought he killed Caleb.
"You don't remember, do you?" I insist.
"I have my ways to know."

What a cute little innocent murderer Wren is. I love how oblivious he is over how BAD his behaviour is. He thinks what he does is normal, and forgets the fact he is a killer, he just believes it’s what he should do. ADORABLE

I am OBSESSED with Wren and Peach. Both of their characters have been written to perfection

"I pretended I cared for things like college, our friends, parties, sports. I put on the mask of the perfect fucking human being so you wouldn't see there's absolutely nothing behind it. I did all of that in the hope that when the time came, you'd finally be mine." He snorts. "Years of pretending not to be crazily obsessed so I could slowly lead you to this exact date, and you'd tell me you'd choose me.”
