Yozo, discussing his new “friend” from Art class: “We were of one species if only in that we were both disoriented.”

Yozo’s insistence on his “other”-ness is really quite a riot, considering so many young people—especially those who have just begun college—feel disconnected from their peers, like they are the only ones that feel a certain way. Yet, this is untrue; it makes Yozo akin to his peers.

Just came across a funny (and accurate) observation by Yozo, the narrator. It reads:
“Long personal experience had taught me that when a woman bursts into hysterics, the way to restore her spirits is to give her something sweet.”

Hailey is on page 125 of 625 of Moby-Dick; or, the Whale
Loving the rich characterization of Starbuck in Chapter 25 (Knights and Squires). He is described as such:

“Uncommonly conscientious for a seaman, and endued with a deep natural reverence, the wild watery loneliness fo his life did therefore strongly incline him to superstition; but to that sort of superstition, which in some organizations seems rather to spring, somehow, from intelligence than from ignorance.”

Hailey is on page 120 of 260 of Frankenstein: The 1818 Text
Currently pondering whether Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: the 1818 text is about to supplant the novel I’ve touted as my “favorite book” for nearly a decade.
This edition of Frankenstein truly is that good. I’m completely enthralled.

Currently 1/3rd of the way done with this book of short stories. Thus far, my opinion is that it began strong with a very compelling first story, but has since petered out a bit.
