I'm going to be SO real right now, Alex absolutely fucking sucks. How the fuck are you referring to proving yourself to be faithful to this girl you supposedly love as 'a challenge and you always loved a challenge'? How are you a day after promising to prove this, already STRUGGLING to not hit on a total fucking stranger? It's gross. And I love complex characters but I dont want to read from the POV of a cheater???

The moments between Delilah and Claire are sweet but I don't see how Claire could possibly view Delilah as abandoning Astrid??? But then again, I have literally been in Delilahs shoes. half-sister who bullied me alongside her friends, the quiet book Nerd that had no friends, even as far as the two week wedding event where I captured the footage and felt like the outsider more than actually family. Its eerie.

Uughhhh I don't love the way that were doing the whole 'bet you she's into me' thing. This is one of my least favorite tropes bc its all full of miscommunication tropes uugghhhhh

I'm frustrated by the way Nina seems to purposefully stunt Ayla's growth for most of this book by giving her more and more pain and loss rather than exploring the depth of how trauma is not linear. I just was starting to like the progression just for it to suddenly get cut and were back to the beginning?
It just gets exhausting to read a character be forced into a space of regression over and over again. Idk idk

Really annoyed that I was spoiled for what happens in this book just by simply searching for the next in the series and seeing the synopsis. Don't understand the point of sharing every major plot point of the end of the first book on the back of the second but here we are. So far I'm growing to like this book. It's currently sitting around a 3.5 to a 4 star for me.

Story has finally started to kick off and I'm grateful for that. I also really like how Nina doesn't betray the way Crier believes for the sake of softening the love aspect or making her more palatable. She's still clear that her orders should be followed, but naive as to why people would struggle with that. It's refreshing in a way. Also appreciated the way she wrote the start of Crier's dissent with the dias scene

I'm not loving the repetition of things. Every time heartstone is mentioned were told that it's how the automae 'eat' basically every single time. I get it already. And then repeating the layout if the castle and kingdom and garden and then what's beyond it. It's all so tedious and not needed AND brought up during moments of tension building making all tension suddenly stop and flatten.

I dont love the enormous amount of info dump9ng right off the rip. We're given SO much and it's a little hard to keep up with. Love Crier so far. Definitely don't trust Kinok. Also, I'm confused on the actual end goal of ARM? They're posed as bad but want to separate from humans, while the king wants to be more like Hans but also views them as inferior? I'm lost.

Stooppp I love the weird dog Otter creatures Mephi and Thrana. Lso? Budding romance? Bayan was just starting to grow on me.

I'm growing less and less impressed with Ranami...

Nooooottt a fan of the Ranami/Phalue relationship so far. It sounds kind of like a mismatch right person wrong time which I hate. Also don't really feel the chemistry between them? Phalue seems deeply immature and only doing things so she doesn't fight with Ranami, which is fine so long as it gets explored more in future chapters and isn't just how their relationship operates.

I cannot believe this is a debut novel. The lore, the writing, the characters - they're all so incredible. So we'll thought out. Sad there's seems to be less of a focus on the sapphic characters as it was recommended as a sapphic book but ultimately the book itself is incredible so far!!

There are so many characters! I'm worries about how I will be able to follow along..

Loving the lore so far but it can be a little difficult to follow. Just feels like a lot being thrown at you all at once but overall very creative and unlike anything I've seen before.
