jo’s emotional journey submitting to the newspaper is how i feel about submitting to film festivals lol

someone else underlined segments of my copy and i thats awesome, especially since i have a 1984 print.

there is already so much happening in just the first chapter alone that it has me all giddy. this is like sidney lumet’s book on crack.

not sure if this will be my jam, but i’m willing to see it through. i think it’s really funny how “almost famous” has its own genre of escapist 70s fantasy.

-the “jennifer’s body” relationship of the two main leads has the potential to get annoying.
-some of the “needle drops” in the book add some nice flair but sometimes feel redundant.

yearning is an understatement…

this is the most eloquent and beautiful way to say that it’s absolutely freezing outside.

the idea of having a “castle in the sky” was a very cute metaphor and definitely a chapter to revisit at a later point.

lately i’ve been feeling the weight of the “grind mindset” and constantly wanting to do better from one project to the next and this chapter helped affirm that it’s nice to have dreams but not be consumed by them. :)

to be a confident filmmaker is to master the art of weaponized delusion to see the final product come to fruition.

chapter 12 is the equivalent of the obligatory anime beach episode.

this really is just the cutest old-timey slice-of-life.

i liked the newspaper “thick as a brick” chapter.

the call sheet graphics are so insanely cool to see in a book like this.

life used to be so simple when all you had to worry about was getting caught for straight suckin on limes.

this is the first book that i’ve started highlighting in different colors as i go along. can’t wait to continually re-read this as pursue my own creative career.

i really wish this was required reading for film school students…
