So confused... Why is this 2 years before Book 1 (1655 vs 1657)?

Already having trouble with this. Pretty bored. I expected better, in terms of the written word, from him.

Okay, I understand that historical fiction is not fact, but this plays such an extreme amount of fast and lose w/history that I'm already having issues. A good story but not history fiction, just fiction

I am struggling with this in terms of removing myodern agnostic brain from the seemingly hundreds of pages of Kristin's religious hand wringing.

I don't know if I can finish. I'm just not cut out for modern stream of consciousness style writing. This just meanders all over the place with thoughts and stories starting but not finishing or a complete thought. I get that life, even my life is not like that but even unfinished, there is a rationale for it. This is just air - so it's not really my thing - I need earth also.

I just can't get into this. I've tried and tried. It is just so tedious. I don't understand the glowing reviews.

Ugh. I'm having a very tough time getting through this one. I love Wendy Dunn's books but I've had to put this one aside for awhile and will try and gt back to it another time.

I'm at Dorvay, 1961, Chapter 5 and trying to figure out why he's re-explaining a scene that happened in the previous section 'The Truck' about the Theresa Hotel heist. I can't decide whether I love this book or hate it ... I feel like I'm reading the script for a film noir. Which is probably the point

OMG, like I'm 24 years old, ran away to London so I didn't have to testify against my Professor who seduced me altho sitting in a theater w/him & another girl I wanted him so bad & then I met this guy on the plane & he was hot but he might have a girlfriend, I am so jealous. Did I mention I have claustrophobia only twice in 49 pages! It's the 21st century but Tiffany & I haven't been properly introduced... Puke

Ugh. Written like a book I would have read when I was 13 with a heroine that's closer to being 16 rather than 24, & with all the signs of being a breast heaving romance rather than a good mystery Not sure I'm going to make it.

I just can't. The first was fun but now Jesse is so annoying I can't stand it. She's 28?? At her age in the same decade I worked full time, owned a house I didn't inherit & didn't spend every day telling my BFF how confused I was. AND if I found a dead body I'd call the police not my BFF to tell her how confused I was about what to do about the dead body. She's just too stupid for me. I'll not read another.

I liked the first one but what bugged me in that made me NUTS in this, so I will finish this but not read additional episodes. Jesse is supposed to be a 28 year old in the 60s-70s. This is fun and light but kinda weird. No chapter breaks. Just one very long single chapter...

Finished "Lock The Cellar Door" and this is the BEST so far. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! O fair Molly Greene keeping me up all hours of the night til the very end and what an ending! I mist admit that Gen's constant getting into scrapes and chapters ending with "just before I was grabbed from behind" are getting a bit old but hopefully she'll grow out of it somewhat.

Just started Half Moon Bay and Gen's bungling is beginning to get old but I suppose it is part of her charm although I was hoping she'd learn at least something by now - chapters that end "and then she was grabbed from behind" are getting a bit stale.

Finished A Thousand Tombs and loved it. Complex, edgy, well paced with a very good plot. The only thing is that Gen's issues are starting to get to me. Her relationship issues, her woe is me, etc while humanizing are starting to get whiny. I'm hoping in the next one moves her along in the evolutionary sense.

I'm a huge Nilsson fan but boy is this dry... Bits and bytes of the music business and process and the partying in the 70s but other than his childhood not much personal insight into the man. I'm not sure I'm going to finish this. It's kind of been a big yawn.

I took this up as it was recommended by Elliot Pattison as additional reading at the end of his latest Duncan Maccallum series and I'm glad I did! This is a fascinating true story of Rogers made equally entertaining as I'm so so familiar with the area in which it takes place. Wonderful history written by a Brit about the early smoke that lead to the American revolution.

So far so good BUT ... "... that old bitty Alice ...: Really? Editor dear, that would be "biddy." SMH
