Oh man so many things going through my head!

My copy of this book got water damaged and I still haven’t replaced it. That is why I haven’t been reading it. It has bummed me out.

One of my book clubs is reading The Count of Monte Cristo in the first quarter of the year & I’m gonna do it! Starting today & ending with 11 chapters next week 😳🗡️

I saw a review say this book was too positive & happy…not realistic but I find it rather dark when a 10/11 year old is constantly aware of what others think of his appearance & how easily he could slip into a dangerous state. It’s quite impressive that many ppl like August even in our reality can look at it with positivity after cruelty. This book is meant to teach empathy.

I am tapping this book up. This would be a good book to read mostly in one sitting.

The amount of times somebody thought Enzo was either Mexican or couldn’t speak english was absolutely maddening.

Very interesting where this book has gone. Much different than the first in the series. C has been liking it.

Everybody views the value of their own life so differently.

I noticed so many similarities to other books the past two days as I was listening to the audiobook and so I did some research on McFadden. Apparently she has copied many, many other thriller books. While many things are not original anymore… you can take ideas and plot points from other authors for sure.

I’m not surprised

I know…I know… this was December book club pick. So far…it’s been predictable & I’m annoyed listening to the audiobook hahaha. However, this is an easy audiobook to listen to while cleaning.

This is already fascinating. I have really liked speculative fiction lately. I was told to NOT read the Goodreads blurb since there’s a spoiler 🫠

I’m not exactly sure how this book was being promoted last year when it was translated into English, but if I’m going off just the cover alone… Well, this isn’t a happy Christmas type story. It is inspired by the little match girl and if you know anything about that story, you know it is melancholic at the very least.

Definitely has a great reread ability.

Rather slow even with the instant infatuation which is fine this tome around but man…these two don’t have any chemistry.

I was looking at my ratings & I’ve been generous with my 4 stars but rating higher if I really enjoyed it. I was not afraid of setting a boom down if I wasn’t in the mood. What hasn’t changed? Stingy 5 stars 😅

This is my first Aardvark book and I wasn’t sure if I was going to read it in December because it’s rather big but I’m hooked. I already like Rose and the retirement home campus is already its own character. I also tend to really like Nightfire publishing.

I started the audiobook with C& I’m excited to finish this with her. I really liked this middle grade when I read it last year. The audio is perfect!

Been listening to this off & on. It’s okay so far. It’s very Hallmark. This is a BOTM audio pick & I reallllyyy don’t like how the male narrator speaks in Harriets voice.

How the chapters have gotten a bit incoherent & have you questioning what is real anymore shows how far removed the wife has gotten from reality 🫠
