In the previous book, "Snother Man's Moccasins," the author used flashbacks, and it worked.. and helped. In this volume, the technique is simply irritating

Penny (Gamache) nails it with respect to the reliability of Wikipedia.

Still, the most hateful character is the Crown Prosecutor.

The Chief Crown Prosecutor reminds me of Hamilton Burger. I immediately dislike him.

And the print itself is inconsistent, lighter in some areas (even a bit harder to read) than in others.

It sounds so...real. An Internet search confirms it: while fictionalized, its basis is a historic set of events.

This book would make a good Season 2 of Three Pines, @Amazon.

Too bad Penny didn't acquire the knowledge of rifles she did of history, art, and poetry.
