I feel like I’m being tortured, forcing myself to finish this book. Penny is the most irritatingly bitchy character I have ever had the misfortune to read about. 75% in and she has not had one nice thing to say about anyone or anything. Just constant complaining and whining. Why does Beckett even like her??

Is a H really an OTT possessive, protective alpha if he doesn’t insist on the h waiting for him to open her car door? I think not. Bonus if he insists on fastening her seatbelt for her too.

I am so different from these heroines. If my man does something that hurts or pisses me off, I am disgusted by his touch. These h’s will let him hold her hand & kiss her when she’s still mad at him. Couldn’t be me. I will stab him before I let him get close enough for my body to betray me…which it WON’T because eww. I need to write a book with a petty Scorpio heroine who knows how to hold a grudge

I’ve loved the other books in this series but this one is just kind of dragging for me. Too many sex scenes and not enough movement of the plot. Might have to take a break and come back to it when I have more patience.

Reading a book and the h describes the H as smelling like “almonds and anise”. Can we be so for real right now? Who the hell even knows what those things smell like without context? Have I ever smelled an almond? What is anise?? I had to google it. It’s some kind of parsley. Is this supposed to be a sexy smell? Oooh baby you smell like almonds and parsley, take off your pants!

Goodreads needs a translate feature. I just know some of ya’ll are leaving awesome reviews in languages I don’t understand. 😩

A secondary hobby to reading is checking out the 1 star reviews for a popular book. You will not find anything funnier than a girl reviewing a book that pissed her off with its mediocrity.

I’m getting bored. Why is this book 363 pages long? So far it’s feeling like it should be 200-250 pages. I love a possessive, obsessed H but they have to have a certain charm for it to work for me. Nate is just a bossy asshole. The fact that he can so easily lie to Whitney is concerning. At least be honest about your crazy.

Can I have recs for safe romance authors? I am ok with manhoes as long as it stops as soon as he sees the h. I’m ok with OW drama as long as H shuts it down hard. No cheating of any kind. I want the H to be obsessed with their h and would never leave them for 10 yrs to screw hundreds of other women. M/F only and no RH please

Ok, so I don’t LOVE a manwhore MMC. But I’ve realized I prefer a manwhore who hasn’t had any serious relationships and doesn’t touch another woman after he meets the FMC over a non manwhore MMC who had serious relationships and was in love before the FMC.

I gotta say, I’m so over the MMC’s that bulldoze their way into the FMC’s life. I think it’s so boring and lazy writing at this point. And the women in these stories? Always pathetic and weak. Let some man try to force me to do something when I say no, you won’t find his body. 🔪

I’m wondering when, if ever, I’m going to start liking the MMC. Because right now, I don’t like him at all. I don’t much like the FMC either. 42 years old and she is DUMB. I’m guessing this is the beginning of when she turns into a doormat for the MMC. Yay

Currently only on page 83 and if the FMC dumbly says “what?” after someone says something to her one more EFFING time I’m gonna lose it. Is that why this book is 70,000 pages long? Because every bit of dialogue has to be repeated for this dumbass?

The characters are annoying me. The FMC, Mia went from being a confident woman to someone who can’t even put a sentence together and turns into a mess just from looking at the MMC. It’s tiresome this far into the book. Her BFF Tessa is SUPER annoying. She is obsessed with Mia and her brother’s sex life. I don’t know any friends that are that concerned about their BFF getting fucked. Contemplating a dnf.
